Page 4 Alliance Membership Drive Starts Now A limited membership enroll¬ ment campaign, combined with a drive to collect unpaid balances on dues, is being conducted until the end of September by a small crops of loyal volunteers, working under tl.o dilection of Sam Robinson, chairman, and Raymond Rosen, co-chairman of the Alliance Mem¬ bership Committee. The solicitation is being con¬ fined to members who still owed balances on their dues, at the time the drive began, and persons, not now members, who are prospects for membership. SIDNEY ROSENZWEIG and FAMILY Extend Best Wishes to Their Relatives and Friends for A NEW YEAR OF JOY AND HAPPINESS September, 1949 Daughters of Zion Win Judean Honor The Daughters of Zion, a local club in the National Young Ju¬ daeans movement sponsored by Jr. Hadassah, walked away with most of the awards at the southern region’s annual encampment held in June at Camp Blue Star, Sautee, Georgia. In competition with clubs from five states, this is the record the local chapter made: They received a gold placque for the year 1948-49 as the out¬ standing chapter in the region. For the second year in a row, won a beautiful silver cup for excellence in choral singing. If the DOZ win this award next year for the third time, they will retain the cup permanently. Greta Rosenzweig won the ping-pong tournament. Margie Cooper came in second in the extemporaneous speaking contest. The chapter came in second in the scrapbook contest. Lee Movsovitz, president of the chapter last year, was chosen the outstanding girl Judaean in the legion and was elected vice presi¬ dent of the region. At the national convention held i" P’.tsburgh this month, Lee was also elected national vice-presi¬ dent. Savannah can well be proud of this outstanding group of girls. A special accolade should also be given to their advisor, Mrs. Her¬ bert Blumenthal, for her fine leadership. Scholarship Available To Armstrong College A full two-years’ scholarship at Armstrong College for two stu¬ dents, who have need for such financial assistance, is being- of¬ fered by an anonymous donor, in memory of his late parents. These scholarships will be administered, at the donor’s request, through the Alliance. Any boy or girl, eligible fox enrollment at Armtsrong, who is interested is asked to get in touch with Mr. Kulick at the Alliance. WANTED Experienced Clerk-Typist.
