THE PANTHER 11 Athletes Honored at Annual Banquet Coach Marion Curry presents awards to record number of sportsters Clark College athletes were feted at an all-sports banquet Monday night, May 15, in Crogman Dining Hall, at which time praises were heaped upon them for their perform ance during the past sports season. Mr. Ralph Long, coach at David T. Howard High School, Atlanta, delivered the principal address. Dean A. A. McPheeters reviewed the history of the occasion and told what it had meant to the athletes and to the college. Coach Leonidas Epps introduced the captains of the various athletic teams — Hilliard Baskin and Auhrey Chatters, captain and co-captain of the ’49 football team; Avery Burres and Schley Williamson, captain and co-captain of the basketball team, and Calvin Mapp, captain of the track team. He also announced that Rob ert Phillips and Bennie Lowe would be co-captains of the coming basket ball team. A special round of applause was given Bennie Lowe, who was voted the oustanding player of the past season.
