Sophs Take
Basketball Crown
The rampaging sophomores, two-time
tournament basketball champions, didn’t
find the going easy in the final game
against the frosh. It was only the team
work of the sophomores that enabled
them to win. The game went see-saw
from the beginning to the final whistle.
Occasionally the boys looked like pros.
After winning the crown the sophomores
invited varsity competition, but no agree
ment could be made. The freshmen were
the only real competition for the sopho
mores. The Q’s, Y.M.C.A., N.A.A.C.P., Al
phas, Juniors, and other would-be cham
pions fell by the wayside. When the soph
omores weren’t eliminating them, the
freshmen were. Then when the contest
Muldirow, James Trice, Willie Scoggins
and William Powell were the mainstays
in the sophomore lineup.

[ can hardly describe this one, but I’ll
just say it was tops. This was a game
played well from start to finish and it
required the know how to w(n. In win
ning two out of three the games played
the Q’s managed to emerge victorious
but were glad when it ended. There was
nothing that either team could do but con
gratulate the ether, no laughs, no jokes,
just admiration for one another’s play. On
the eve of the big contest the Spoilers, a
winning.
The big day of the finals was remark
ably beautiful for out-of-doors activities.
The Q’s won the first game, causing the
Alphas to fight an up-hill battle. The sec
ond game was captured by the Alpha
team. The last game ended 15-14 Q’s fa
vor and that was all. Members of the
Q’s teams included. Arthur Johnson, Na
thaniel Thomas, Herbert Wellons, Har
old Hamilton, Bennie Lowe, Washington
Butler, Reuben Dawkins, Forrest Patter
son, Simon Edwards, Samuel Sanderson,
and Rodney Reed.
The Intra-Mural program was success
ful in every sense of the word. Coach
Curry and Clarence Williams, Intra-Mu
ral managers certainly should be congrat
ulated for directing such a program.
reached its final stage it found these two
teams remaining. Never before have we
here at Clark seen such a game among
the Intra-Mural competitors. The sopho
mores will keep the Intra-Mural Trophy
since they have won the contest tw»o con
secutive years. Clarence Lewis, Norris
point happy outfit, fought an losing bat
tle against the Alphas to stay in the run
ning. Had not the team become too con
fident they would have probably played
the Q’s in the finals. However the boom
was lowered and the Alphas went away
