Received letters for meeting standards required in track: Bobby Leonard, John Cannon, Arthur Johnson, Hubert Ricks, Offie Clark, and Roman Turmon. Seven members of the football team are graduating this year and were presented varsity sweaters by the Athletic Associa tion: Andrew Benton, Joseph Eberhardt, Octavious O’Neal, Samuel Sanderson, Clarence Williams, Roy Wolfe, and Benja min Lloyd, Robert Phillips and Robert Barham, graduating basketball players, also received varsity sweaters. Forty letter awards were made in foot ball, basketball, and track. Only two ath letes were awarded letters for the three sports; Offie Clark and Roman Turmon. INTRAMURAL AWARDS PRESENTED Winners of the recent intramural tourn ament were also honored at the banquet by the presentation of medals to individ ual players of the winning teams. To the sophomores, who won the bask etball tournament for the second succes sive year, went the intramural basket ball trophy which is theirs now) for per manent posession. Members of the sopho more team are Norris Muldrow, Clarence Lewis, Eugene Brown, James Trice, John Cannon, William Powell, Jaimes Parham, and Wilbert Christian. Second place in basketball went to the freshman class. Freshman players were Douglas Rowland, George Davis, Leon Alexander, William Rolle, Charles Teamer, and Julian walk er. The volleyball championship went to the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity on the strength of Bennie Lowe, Reuben Sim mons, Forrest Patterson, Samuel Sander son, Harold Hamilton, Nathaniel Thomas, Arthur Johnson, and Herbert Wellons. Second place in volleyball went to the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity whose roster includes William Stanley, Andrew Alli son, Homer Shipman, Maurice Thompson, Solomon Sears, and Perry Mitchell. On the tennis courts Avery Burress, rep resenting Kappa Alpha Psi, ended ahead of Herman Wilson, also representing Kap pa in the singles. William Stanley, Alpha, and Arthur Perry, Alpha, came out victors over Rob ert Phillips and Avery Burress in doubles. On the ping pong table Arthur Perry, Alpha, and Robert Knox, Alpha, won first and second place respectively. James Jones and Robert Knox were nosed out of first place in ping pong doubles by Solomon Sears and James Parham. Homecoming Queen and Fraternity Queens Deltas Observe May Week Mrs. Anne Cochran, Director of Practice Teaching at Morris Brown College de livered a message to the Clark Student Body at the recent Delta Sigma Theta “May Week” Observance held on May 17 in Davage Auditorium. Mrs. Cochran spoke concerning “The Rights of Our Greek Letter Organizations In Our Col leges From Charter to Practice”. In her message Mrs. Cochran told mem bers of Greek Letter Organizations of the responsibility they must assume as leaders of the masses. In stating that Ne gro sororities and fraternities are heavily social she told Greek Letter Organizations to “re-examine objectives and re-chart courses.” At the program the following awards were made as part of the “May Week*’ observance: Co-ed of the year in groom ing, Miss Willa Rose Henderson; in Ver satility, Miss Juanita Marshall; in Per sonality, Miss Mary Ruth Smith; in Schol arship, Miss Vienna Thorn; in Citizen ship, Miss Patsy Chandler. The Co-ed of the Year Award was made to Miss Eula Jones, senior, of Chattanooga, Tenn. SIGMA Psi chapter, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, Presented its National “Big ger and Better Business” program on Wednesday, April 11, in Davage Auditor ium. The guest speaker was Mr. J.L.
