South Carolina State’s Bull
dogs derailed the Panther ex
press on October 19, with a 28-8
victory that won them revenge
to the point on Clark’s conquest
of them last year at Orangeburg.
State harvested a 6-0 halftime
lead and ran it to 18-0 before the
Panthers made their first touch
down. An earlier goal-line stand
had thwarted a first quarter
Panther drive.
The Clarkites missed out on
fourth period bids when two
more drives were halted within
striking distance of the Bulldog
goal line.

It was the same combination

scoring with a 23 yard touch

Clarkites scored almost at will.
Sophomore halfback Elijah

After losing four straight con
ference games, just how good
loyal Wolverine supporters view
the coming Turkey Day Classic?
Believe it or not, Brownites
are enthusiastic and down-right
sure that their team will come
out in the annual clash. Here
are some comments.
Otha Hambrick: “With Samuel
Hill matching wits with Elmer
Mixon the game should be quite
entertaining.”
James German (Team co-cap
tain): “Well, no one is satisfied,
but no one knows the team’s
potential as well as I, and I am
sure this game will show them at
their best.”
Eugene Robinson (Team co
captain): “As long as the stu
dent body shows confidence we’ll
continue trying that much hard
er.”
Unidentified: “Morris Brown
has had her day in football for
a while. We can’t win ’em all
against Clark.”
Unidentified: “I’d be more op
timistic if we had more exper
ienced players.”
Coach Major Powell: “If our
lads performed at the top of their
ability we can all be content.”
From Clarkites
by Flora Wilks
According to Clark students,
Morris Brown doesn’t have “a
ghost of a chance” against the
Panthers this week. Clarkites
were almost unanimous in their
opinions recently when asked
“What do you think to the
Clark-Morris Brown game?” The
comments went like this:
“It has been said that Clark
was lucky last year. Now we’ll
see whether it was luck.”
“I think Clark will win, don’t
you?”
“There is no doublt about it.
Clark will win.”
“We’ll clobber ’em!”
Unwilling to stick their necks
out, two others ventured:
“I think Clark will win if the
team doesn’t become overconfid
ent.”
“At present I have no idea
about the game, but maybe
Clark will win.”
Clark’s P a n t h e r's spotted
Morehouse an 8-point lead on
November 2 then came from be
hind to win 34-8. The victory
broke a three-game winking
streak assembled by the Tigers.
Morehouse scored in the first
period when a Panther pass was
intercepted on the Clark 30 yard
line. One play later the Tigers
notched their first and only tally
and successfully converted for
the eight points they were to
score for the; afternoon.
Samuel Hamilton put Clark
back into the contest in the sec
ond period asihe carried the ball
14 of 15 times on a 65 yard
ground drive, Hamilton bulled
over from the three for the tally.
