FACES AND PLACES WITH PRI iff .. - . -■ ¥*„ I believe Dr. Henderson has vigorously assumed his role in helping Clark College realize its full potential. He is dedicated to a creed similar to that of Samuel Gould’s that Clark College must be a place where new intellectual vistas are opened and exciting discoveries emerge from dedicated scholarship; and that Clark must be a place where each student learns to recognize his inner and better self, and to use that better self as an instrument for the shaping of an enlightened society. President Henderson embodies the necessary philosophical con tinuity to “get the job done.” He is lofty - -yet practical,cutting-- yet compassionate, steadfast--yet flexible. Being a scientists, I find the following quote of great worth: “One machine can do the work of fifty ordinary men. But no machine can do the work of one extraordinary man.” All of us here at Clark would agree that Vivian Henderson fits in that quote both as a man and as a president. I am convinced that Vivian Henderson would make significant impacts in improving the educational process here at Clark and else where in the nation. The world of America’s young is far broader and more complicated than it used to be. He recognizes this. Yes terday’s limited education for the many and full education for the few has been swept away by the trend toward universal education.
