Page 4 - PANTHER - April 1976 SGAi—Active At Clark KUUMBA "The Devil Within Her ” By Charlotte A. Allen the last decade or so has brought about a new trend in tie movie industry. Beginning with “Rosemary’s Baby,” “The Exorcist,” etc., the occult, supernatural and demonic possession has come forth to amaze r entertain, frighten and fascinate audiences across the nation. The latest of such movies is of Peter Sasdy Film, written by Stanley Price, “The Devil Within Her.” Once again demonic possession and exorcism takes a front row seat, this tin^e in the guise of a twelve jxiund new-born baby with Herculean strength. The movie follows a similar pattern of its predecesssors. As the plot thickens, this infant grows at a tremendous rate and has the ability to leave his crib, wreck his room, and kill his nurse, father, doctor and mother. Of course his strength comes from a demon, through a curse placed on his mother’s womb by a rejected-midget suitor. The curse manifests itself even before birth, as the opening scene depicts the agonizing delivery of the child, that did not want to be bom. The movie employs some trick photography showing fecial flashes of the baby with the possessors face; as well a; the face of the mother’s ex-lovet who could have been the child’s fether. True to a posessec person’s form, the intant made utterance in an unknown tongue as he killed some of his victims, hereby giving further credibility to his possession. Goodtimes Is Vital By Whitaker Howell “Good Times” does more for the advancement of Blacks in this country than the Black Panthers or the entire Nation of Warn put together,” accordingi to the president of the Society for Cinema Studies. Howard Suber, also a professor cf film and television in the UCLA Motion Picture Television dvision, said in a recent issue of “Television Quarterly” in an aticle entitled “Televisions Interchangeable Ethnics,” that “while the militants threaten destruction, television shows that blacks are human beings of dignity, humor and abiding worth. Suber feels that shows such as “Sanford & Son,” “The Jef- fffsons” and “Chico & the Man” were in the top twenty of Nelsen ratings, because a mass aidience sees these Blacks and Chicanos as being “like themselves,” as human beings everyone can “identify with.” The Student GEORGIA Association of Education (SAGE), an affiliate of the Georgia Association of Educators is all about providing quality education to interest capable young men and women in teaching careers.
