Debrah, LL.D., Am bassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ghana to the United States of America. The speaker for the Founders Day program was Vernon E. Jordan, Jr., J.D., Executive Director Designate of the United Negro College Fund. In 1974. . . The Clark College Debaters, after being inactive for ap proximately five years, reorganized and won six awards for their oratory ac complishments. The entire staff of Morris Brown’s yearbook, The Brownite, resigned following a “contractual agreement” dis pute. Swing Phi Swing, Social Fellowship, Inc., announced its membership as a chartered organization at Clark. President Vivian Wilson In 1971. . . Coach Leonidas Epps resigned as football coach and Jessie McClardy succeeded him. The Founders Day speaker was Elias Blake Jr., Ph.I)., President of the Institute for Services to Education. The McPheeters-Dennis Hall became the tenth building to be erected on Clark’s cam pus. The speaker for the commencement exercise was Richard Gordon Hatcher, LL.D., Mayor of the City of Gary, Indiana. Vivian Henderson, in a speech at the 106th Convocation, told the students and faculty at Clark yj that “due to the rising rate of B inflation, tuition will be raised ™ and instructors cannot expect I f a raise in salary, this year.” Spelman College begun , accepting students for the H newly established biochemis- “ try-nutrition program in the; division of Natural Science, f Clark’s “Red Machine” was' chosen to play in the Orange. The Men of Clark College (MCC) in an effort to move out into the community and show the achievement of Clark’s male graduates, held a joint meeting with the Butler Street YMCA Hungry Club Forum. Tuition at Clark College in creased an additional $100 in August, bringing the total tuition at Clark to $1,600 a year. World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Muhammad Ali, was the guest speaker at Archer Hall during a tribute given to him by Morehouse College. The Atlanta University Center paid tribute to the slain civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on his 46th birthday. The theme for the celebration was “Moving Toward The Dream.” Clark Panthers: Arthur Allen - wide receiver, Gregory McCrary - tight end, and James Wilson - tackle were selected in the football draft by Los Angeles Rams, Atlanta Falcons, and Miami Dolphins. On April 8 WCLK, Clark College’s radio station, 91.9 on F.M. dial celebrated its In 1972. . . Herman H. The commencement speaker was Aileen C. Hernandez, M.A., Chair One, National Ad visory Committee National Organization for Women; Former Commissioner, United States Equal Employment Op portunity Commission. In 1973. . . Andrew J. Young, Jr., D.I)., United States House of Representatives, Fifth Congressional District, Atlan ta, Georgia was the commencement speaker. Samuel I). The Clark College Jazz Ensemble performed at Morris Brown College in a salute to Cannonball Adderley. Clark College received a grant of $33,700 from the Rockefeller Foundation to in crease the effectiveness of its career planning and placement services. The Clark College Family suffered a great loss in the death of Mr. Alan Bussel, a Journalism Professor at Clark. Dr. Pealie C. Dove, chairman of the education department was honored by being named the “Dis tinguished Professor of Higher Education" at Clark. The University Apartments became Clark College Courts.
