Fall 4 Prep Look’ Reincarnated
BY LYSTERIA ARCHIE
Panther Staff Writer
This fall the “American In
fluence” has hit the fashion
scene. Europeans have covered
New York’s Seventh Avenue
collections in the same way they
typically hop to London, Paris
and Milan.
In Paris, there is a rush for
Shetland sweaters, pennyloafers,
button down shirts, all Ivy
League and traditional American
clothing,’’ explained, Alfred
Fornay, Creative Director of
Revlon’s Polished Ambers
Collection.
Tweeds, pleated plaids and
real tartan kilts paired with
nordic and arglyes make for a
versatile attire that commutes
between school and work. These
quality pieces can last you a
lifetime.
When asked whether this style
of dressing will be popular in
Northern and Southern Colleges
alike, Mr. Fornay stated, "The
coastal areas except change very
fast. New York, for example, is
the trend and pace setter for the
country, so you are likely to see
more updated fashion conscious
people in this area. The prep
look will definitely be seen all
over the Northern region of the
country.’’

so the Ivy league look may be
even more popular in this area
because the people have never
completely lost contact with the
basics in dressing which is one of
the main characteristics of this
fall’s prep look.”
In general “The American In
fluence” (with the help of your
individual taste in accessories)
will be very popular here and
abroad this fall and possibly
many falls to come. Revlons
Polished Ambers Collection is
even doing its part to conform to
the Collegiate look. Many of its
brighter lip, cheeks, and nail
colors are being played down to
give them a softer look.

Are you having problemswith
your television set? So you say
you misplaced your soap opera?
You can’t seem to find "One Life
To Live” or “The Edgeof Night?”
Or maybe you can’t catch
Richard Dawson and “The
Family Feud?”’
Chances are that you are not
hallucinating. Neither are your
channels out of place. It’s just
that WSB-TV, Channel 2 in Atlan
ta, is moving its network af
filiation from NBC to ABC, some
of which have already been
moved and most to take place on
Sept. 1.
According to Frederick
Barbara,)r., vice - president and
general manager of WSB-TV, the
change was encouraged by the
close relationship between the
profile of the Atlanta viewer and
that of the audience of the ABC
network programs.
"We feel that by combining
Channel 2’s strengths - in local
news and public affairs with
ABC’s sports, news, children’s
and entertainment programs, we

leader our viewers expect.”
WSB-TV hasa 32year history of
the serving Atlanta market, ac
cording to Barber. He said the
decision to move from NBC to
ABC was not easy. "We went on
the air in 1948 as an NBC af
filiate,” he said. “We’ve enjoyed
three decades of success and a
highly professional relationship
over the years. We have deep
respect for NBC and can assure
Atlanta viewers they can con
tinue to rely on ourcommitment
to quality and service in the
public interest.”
Soon all of the soap operas that
you are accustomed to airing on
ABC will be shown on NBC and
vice-versa. ABC’s sports
programs, "Wide World of
Sports” and "Monday Night
Football” will be viewed on
Channel 2. “20/20” news
magazine program and 'Good
Morning America” will also be
seen on Channel 2.
According to Barber, ABC’s
continued expansion of news
coverage and successful showsas
"20/20” are indications that the
network shares NBC-TV’s com
mitment to news.
So if m doubt about your
favorite television show, don’t
panic until you’ve checked or
the other station. You mav get
lucky, but there is the possibility
remaining that your favorite
show was cancelled.
