Thompson Plans Student Involvement MONICA from page 3
Dear Friend:
Tyrone Jr., my volunteer staff, my citywide community ad
visory committee, and I want to thank you very much for
your overwhelming vote of confidence which brought us in
first place with 43^of the vote . . . even though there were
four people in the race.
I don't know if I had your support in the primary election
August 5th, but I certainly need it now.
Even if you didn't vote in the primary, you can still vote in
the run-off August 26th. I need, welcome, and encourage
the vote and support of those who may have voted for
someone other than myself on August 5th. I cannot win this
race without your vote and support.
I need you back at the polls one more time on August26th.
I will have no opposition in November, so when we win on
next Tuesday, it's all over.
Will you please call ten people and urge them to Punch
No. 7 and vote for me on August 26th.
As God is my witness, I thank you very much.
P.S. - Take this letter to the polls
August26th,andafteryou cast that
very important vote for me by
punching no. 7,drop by the main
campaign Headquarters and join
the victory celebration.
Punch No. 7
on Aug. 26

Young Film Makers
Produce Movie
BY LINDA BROWN
PANTHER REPORTER
“Making It On My Own", the
film made this summer by the
Young Filmmakers, premiered
August 13,1980 at the Walter Hill
Auditorium at the High Museum
of Art.
To the audience, itwasa grand
exciting evening. But to Young
Filmmakers, the first totally
youth operated film project in
the nation, the premiere was the
end to nine weeks of hard work
and dedication. At times that
piece of celluliod "meant more
than life itself" was the opinion
of Vincent Woodard, the youth
director of the project.
It all started out as just an idea
of the two adult consultants
George Folkes and Tyrone
Harris. Folkes is an independent
producer who is also a former
Clark College Mass Com
munications student and
graduate of Morehouse. Harris is
a Morehouse student and
former intern with the Com
prehensive Employment Train
ing Act (CETA) the funding
source of the project.
The uniqueness, organization
and tangibility of the final
product were some of the
reasons the Young Filmmakers
proposal was accepted by CETA.

August, 1978, Ebony magazine
named her one of 50 Future
Leaders of America. This year,
Ms. Kaufman made an
appearance on Tom Snyder’s
‘Tomorrow Show" along with
several other television an
chorwomen.
A nationwide search is being
made in efforts of finding a
replacement for Ms. Kaufman.
Her med ia experience and active
community involvement will be
large shoes for any man or
woman interested in anchoring
the WSB-TV six and 11 o’clock
news to fill.

Yolanda Thompson, Clark
College’s Student Government
Association President is very op
timistic about the active and
stimulating year she has planned
for the entire college family.
Ms. Thompson, a four year
honors student, is interested in
enhancing the student, faculty
relationship throughout the
college. "I feel that the main role
I have as President of the student
body is to act as a liason between
faculty and students," Yolanda
stated. Ms. Thompson em
phasized the fact that students
here are more than mere
“numbers” and that Clark offers
its students a very challenging
cirriculum administered by a
very concerned faculty and staff.
Mr. Thompson has always
been an active student on the
college campus. Because of her
membership in the Clark
College Honors Program,
Yolanda was chosen to be on the
