Starting September 16-20 at the Fox Theater, the Atlanta audience will once again witness the stylized choreography of Alvin Ailey, along with George Faison, Lar Lubovitch and Kathryn Posin The highlight of the com pany’s return will be the Atlanta Premiere featuring six works never before seen in this area. Memoria, Ailey's newest offering to the premiere is “dedicated -to the joy . . . the beauty . .. the creativity .. . and the wild spirit of my friend, Joyce T risler,” related the choreographer. The work was premiered in November, 1979 and is considered his best choreography since Revelations. For the last twenty years, Alvin Ailey and his American Dance Theater has combined ballet, jazz, modern and Afro - Carribean dances. And through those mixtures he has created a style that has caused audiences from around the world to dis cover his uniqueness. Linda Spriggs, a native Atlan tan will be featured in Les Noces (The Wedding) by Lar Lubovitch. A tale about an arranged marriage that is set in a Village of Middle Europe. Included in the six Atlanta premieres are two selections dedicated to the theme of love. Inside (Between Love . . . And Love) by Ulyusses Dove is a solo experience of beginner’s love. By using a bordello in the performance that shows the pas sion of the heart. Kathryn Posin’s Later That Day is a romantic selection depicting the famous red light district of New Orleans as his background. Donald McKayle will present selections of jazz in the District Storyville. Duke Ellington, Sidney Bechet and Jelly Roll Morton will set the mood of the scene with their famous music. This is the fifth time the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre has performed in Atlanta. During September, 1977, the company presented workshops, open rehearsals, master classes and lecture demonstrations. Remember Ailey's beloved classics Revelations and Suite Otis? These selections will also be featured during the com pany's engagement.
