Yeah, those Jesse James wannabees dressed up in those babydoll uniforms have totally messed up this time. Shooting at students. Unbelievable. Killing a fellow security guard. What ignorance. But we can't say we didn't see it coming. The security guards throughout the AUC seem to think that they are licensed police officers with a RoboCop mentality. The tragic incident that happened at Morehouse over the weekend is not confined to the campus over there on Westview Drive. Every campus in the AUC has security guards with identical personalities. All of them think they are modern day James Bond’s .' As though the theme from ’Shaft’ followed their every footstep. Walking around the campus as though they control you, me and every other student on the grounds. They're so tough when it comes to dealing with students but couldn’t stop an intruder even if he surrendered to them. Obviously, there is a communication problem between students, security and the administration. Because I know that the administration would never give security the O.K. to shoot at a student. At least I hope not. If any security guard cannot protect the campus and himself from a student without drawing his or her gun then he or she needs to find employment elsewhere. If we as students cannot feel safe within the own compounds of our campus then something is definitely wrong. True enough, some students can be rowdy at times but is death a suitable punishment? I don't think so. I'm sure no parent wants to get a phone call saying that their child was gunned down by a trigger happy campus security guard. And I'm sure that the administration doesn't want to make that phone call. Everywhere I turn nowadays I see a police car with the name of a AUC institution drawn on its side. I even saw one car down on Northside Drive. Now what that security guard was doing down there I don't know but I hope no student on that campus was in any danger. For some reason I believe that the AUC security guards don't really know the rules and limitations of their duties and until they do incidents like the one at the Morehouse Stadium won't be a rarity. It's been said that a 'Nig _ _ with a badge is Black peoples worse enemy' but maybe a 'Nig without a badge is even worse.'
