A TAXING REVELATION
BIG BAD WOLFE
A BRAVE NEW CITY
Twenty more people died in South Africa
this past week. So what’s new ? You ask
yourself. This time the issue surrounding
the violence was a new Value Added Tax
(VAT) introduced by the White regime a
month ago.
The anti-apartheid movement made up of
organizations against the evil White system
of South Africa organized a two day strike
opposing the new tax. Which was a smart
move considering the effects VAT will have
on the income of the majority of Blacks by
draining their pockets!
On top of the 400 years of oppression they
, have inflicted against Blacks, White South
, Africans want to add more pain with a tax
, bill that will benefit only them through the
expense of Blacks.
It's amazing that the White regime even
introduced this tax bill during a time when
South Africa may be heading for
"democracy." Where does this government
think the latest developments are heading?
1 Back to the past? Hell no!
South Africa is the last country in Africa
that needs to be liberated and there’s no
holding it back. Even if it requires
i measures of taking up arms to liberate her.
The Black-on-Black violence the media
, writes or reports about is built up
( frustration inside a people who don’t know
what freedom is and want to know. A
people long suppressed and denied the right
1 to practice thier wishes like Blacks of
South Africa are bound to burst and take
' the frustration out on each other.
You look at all the revolutions around the
1 world and you'll see how people first kill
one another and then end up killing the
enemy. So White South African needs to be
i careful.

As a native Kentuckian I am
disappointed at what I see happening at the
only Black university, Kentucky State
University, in my home state.
Like alot of universities, KSU has
had its share of ups and downs. Recently,
John T. Wolfe, Jr., President of the
university, was asked by the board of
regents to resign immediately. The board
was concerned about the $52,415 Wolfe
spent to redecorate his home without
informing school officials. What was Wolfe
thinking about? I certainly don’t know.
Maybe he thought he could just go over his
budget without the board of regents consent.
Maybe he thought the university spending
policies didn't apply to him.
Should universities all over the
United States, especially our black colleges,
keep a better track of their Presidents
spending habits?
Whatever the case may be, I believe
Wolfe knew the limits of acceptable
spending.
But the news of Wolfe’s spending
habits should come as no surprise to the
Black collegiate community. Many Black
colleges have had their problems with
presidents and other university staff
members misappropriating funds so why
should we expect anything different from
Kentucky State University's president?
1 believe that the students should take
charge and get more involved in what is
going on at their schools. Students should
become aware of how the political side of a
university works. There is alot of decisions
to be made, and I feel that students should
become veiy active or at least have a say in
what is going on at their institution.
Maybe if the students at K.S.U. were able to
have an input in university spending habits
then Wplfe probably wouldn't have
overspent on his Bob Villa venture.

The Cinderella story is what some
called the Braves triumphant climb from
worst to first.
Eveiywhere you looked for the past
few weeks the Braves were what you saw.
From television to radio to
billboards it was evident that the city of
Atlanta had come together in full support of
the Braves.
The city watched as the Braves won
the National League Western division and
the National League Championship.
Finally, in game seven of the World Series,
the Braves fell to the Minnesota Twins
ending their Cinderella story. However,
that did not end the city's support of their
miracle team. The people of Atlanta came
together to give the largest ticker tape
parade in the city's history.
Being an Atlanta native and a big
Braves fan 1 enjoyed our city coming
together but I had to think is this the only
way our city can unite? I have witnessed
this coming together in the past with our
getting the 1996 Olympics, but never have I
seen the city join in any other capacity.
Atlanta is known as the crime
capitol but never has the city joined to
successfully combat murder, drugs, child
abuse, homelessness or any other problem
that plaques our city.
Atlanta must not be content with it's
crime capitol name. The people of Atlanta
must find some way to bond together, as
they have in their support of the Braves to
rid themselves of the unwanted nickname.
If sporting events and future revenues are
the only facet that Atlanta can join forces
in, then our city is in trouble.
I leave you with this question, can
Atlanta join forces in an effective way to
deal with it’s problems?

It is very disappointing to
see some of my Black brothers
walking and riding around town
with White women in tow. Some
call it 'Jungle Fever,' but I call it
ignorance. Black women have
the most beautiful internal and
external features of any other
human being on this earth. She is
a unique specimen. Mother,
provider, teacher - you name it she
can handle it. Disrespected since
Massa John first raped her, the
Black woman has rebounded to
become one of if the not the most
well-rounded individual
breathing.
But the White woman is
different. There is no such thing as
a beautiful White woman for such
words are only reserved for the
Black woman. Her external
features are unshapely and poorly
displayed. She yearns for the sun
and tanning booths in order to
darken her skin to emulate that of
the Black woman. Secondly, the
intellectual level of the White
woman is far below that of her
Black counterpart. Vanna White
gets on television and makes
millions for turning over letters
that are lit up. Now that takes a lot
of intelligence. There are five and
six year old Black girls running
around here who could do that. If
Vanna wants to impress me then
have her solve the puzzle. Now
that would be something to watch
as another White woman would
make a fool out of herself. But
America, Whites and Blacks,
marvels at this making her into a
beauty queen But through my
experiences of mingling and
working with White women I have
found them to be shallow
individuals confused about their
purpose on this earth. White men
lack respect for them but Black
men, especially those with money,
seem to believe that they are
queens.
What some of my brothers
see in these women is beyond me.
Though some of them tell me that
they are easier to get along with
then Black women. Say what? Is
that what the relationship
between Black man and woman
has come to? I would rather put up
with all the lip that a Black
woman would dish out because the
positives out weigh the negatives. I
would put any Black woman up
against any White woman and
we'll come out the winner every
time - even on a bad day. It is true
that love has no color, but is the
Black and White combination
really love? Or is it lust, curiosity
and ignorance? I will support my
Black brothers to the end of time,
but I question their judgement in
choosing White women. It's like
settling for second best. No, it is
settling for second best. Brothers
and sisters can and will debate
this subject forever, but if we were
truly educated about the ills of
White women such debates and
movies (Jungle Fever) wouldn't
even be necessary. We could then
direct our energies towards much
more needed subjects.
