Month:Alfred Kitchen
By Dana Gilmore
Contributing Writer
Growing up in a small town in Mound
Bayou, Miss., little Alfred Kitchen often
watched is older brother play football, but
now it’s his brother’s turn to sit on the
sidelines and watch Kitchen play.
Kitchen, a transfer student from Missis
sippi Delta Community College, is arunning
back for the Clark Adanta University Pan
ther football team.
While at Mississippi Delta, Kitchen was
named All-American for two consecutive
years. Before transferring to CAU as a jun
ior, Kitchen recieved an associate degree in
electronic technology.
Although this is Kitchen’s first year on the
Panther football team, he has already emerged
as a team leader. As well as being a starting
running back, Kitchen is the team captain.
“When he gets his hands on the ball, you
know he will do something positive with it,”
Head Coach Willie Hunter said.
Reflecting on the tremendous athletic
abilities of Kitchen, Coach Hunter said, “he
will probably become an A11-American here
at Clark Adanta.”
Kitchen is an electrical engineering ma
jor with a 2.8 G.P.A.
Aside from playing football, Kitchen en
joys baseball and hockey. Kitchen is quiet,
yet “he is respected by all of the other
football players on the team,” Coach Hunter
said.
Kitchen said what keeps him focused on
performing to the best of his abilities is,
“Being able to play football, which is some
thing that not everybody can do.”
A small ??? football player with a big
heart, Kitchen is one exceptional athlete.
