Bv Alana Howard The election of Donald Trump sparked many different negative emotions and oppositions between different groups of people. Because of President Trump’s controversial ideas and policies, many different opinions and oppositions have arisen. His plans of dropping the Affordable Health Care Act, cutting federal funding on certain governmental programs, building a wall on the United States border with Mexico, dropping trade deals that took years to establish, along with creating easier avenues for big business are campaign promises he is expected to try to keep. In the first two weeks of being in office, he either issued an executive order or memo to his top aides to review the Dodd- Frank financial regulatory law, ban imigrants from seven Muslim counries. restructure the National Security Council, revive the construction of the Keystone pipeline, withdraw from the Trans-Pacific partnership, direct federal agencies to ease the regulatory- burdens of Obamacare, and impose a hiring freeze on some federal government workers. Studies show that the number of people who voted in the 2016 presidential election was the lowest in two decades. Only 53.5 percent of voting-age citizens turned out. It would take another 18.7 million votes to reach the high point of voter turnout in 2008, when nearly 64 percent of voting age citizens turned out. If more people had voted, the outcome probably would have been different, hence not causing as much controversy. Even though many citizens may not agree with the current president, it is vital to move on and adjust to what is happening in the country. America has spoken and Donald John Trump is the president.
