PLANS NEAR COMPLETION FOB
RICHARD III
The cast of Richard III is working untiringly to fut-
hll the expectations of the number of students and friends
of Morehouse that are interested in the presentation of
this Shakespearean play. The date of presentation has
been set for April 24th and 25th. The members of
the cast are spending a great amount of time practicing
in order to near the mark of perfection as much as pos
sible The former practices have been interesting, al
though it has been rather difficult to practice regularly,
because of a number of other attractions. In spite of
these handicaps, fairly good progress has been made,
and rehearsals have taken on a professional tone. Miss
Cooke, the directress, is doing excellent work, and her
interpretations and explanations of Richard III are su
perb. The cast is asking the cooperation of the stu
dents in making this event one of the greatest of the
year.
QUESTIONNAIRE REVEALS RATIONAL
STUDENT THOUGHT ON MANY
MOOTED SUBJECTS
Wordsworth should have said, “0 what a tangled webb
we weave when rational thoughts we try to breathe,” for
such a statement would fit the college man who is pe
rennially caricatured. The responses to questions in the
questionnaire compiled by the Student Activity Com
mittee showed that Morehouse students think rationally.
T hey realize the importance of guidance and yet feel
they can discipline themselves; for one hundred and
three advocate Freshman rules and ninety-eight want stu
dent discipline that isn’t wholly controlled by the Stu
dent Activity Committee. Fifty-three favor an honor
system in which students caught stealing in examina
tions would be handled by students. Five students whom
they are willing to trust for discipline of students are:
H. J. Battle, E. R. Rodriguez, Thomas Kilgore, C. C.
Gaines, and I). S. Days.
One hundred and nine students want an “M” book
published by the Committee next year. The editor of
The Maroon Tiger will receive a salary next year. ‘"Oh
yeah!” say one hundred and six students, ninety six of
which are liberal-minded enough to enjoy reading ar
ticles in the Tiger written by A. U. and Spelman students.
Eighty-nine students feel that other phases of athletics
shouldn’t suffer for the sake of a full schedule in
football, yet eighty-eight wouldn’t desire a reduction in
the number of football games played in order to avoid
probable deficits. Paradoxical, eh? The sixteen feel
that students should vote on tentative game schedules.
They have to play ’em; graduates don’t.
The new rational element in student thought on the
campus is shown by responses in affirmative majorities
concerning the pleasing element in chapel services, more
provisions or display of student talent in special at
tractions and the helpfulness of fraternities toward en
couraging scholarship.
