munity is deeply saddened by the
death of Morehouse security

Stadium on Saturday, October 5.
Mr. Straughter, employed by
Morehouse College for several
months, had proven to be an as
set to the Department of Safety
and Security, and was well-re
spected by students and the fac
ulty and staff.
Morehouse extends deepest

family.

Showdown in Columbus, Georgia
Morehouse and Tuskegee will
be looking to extend their win
ning streaks to four games when
the two teams meet this Saturday
in the 81st Annual Morehouse
Tuskegee Classic.
Both teams come into this
game with high-powered of
fenses. Morehouse likes to run
the football and posses the best
backfield in the SIAC. They have
had two running backs rush for
over 100 yards in the same game
twice this season and have had a
100 yard rusher in five of their six
games. The passing game needs
some improvement since they
are only averaging 97.5 yards per
game.
On the other hand, Tuskegee
can run or pass. They took their
pick last week against Clark At
lanta, they racked up over 600
yardstotal offense (300plusrush-
ing and 200 plus passing).
Tuskegee has the top running
back in the SIAC in Howard Rod-
By Gaiy Q. Abernathy
man. Rodman is averaging over
120 yards rushing a game and
has had two 200 yard rushing
games this season.They also have
the best wideouts in the SIAC,
Chris Holder and Joseph Wash
ington are just two of them, and
by far the top quarterback
Maurice Heard (Tuskegee quar
terback) was named SIAC of
fensive player of the year and
SIAC offensive back of the year
last season. This season, he is
postingimpressivenumbers also.
He has a couple of 200 yard pass
ing games to his credit and leads,
the SIAC in passing as well as
touchdown passes. His team also
leads the SIAC in scoring by aver
aging more than 30 points a game.
The Maroon Tigers will be try
ing to beat Tuskegee for the first
time since 1984. "This is a big
game, a big week, and there are a
lot of things we have to look for
ward to," said Head Coach Craig
Cason.
These two teams started off
the season 0-3 and have won their
last three games. Morehouse is
1-1 in conference and Tuskegee
is 3-1. "We are at .500 and now it
is time to take the SIAC," said
team captain Patrick Gamble.
