Things have really been hopping in this fair city. The first Miss Gay Chat tanooga pageant was held on February 10, 1974 at Dino’s House of Canton-- one of the foremost supper clubs here in town. Beau tiful Amber Synclair was crowned as a more than capacity crowd cheered. It’s been said that the contest was rigged, but I guess that is something that is said of almost any contest. And anyway, this writer worked behind, in front of, and during the scenes. They say, “all’s fair in love and war.’’ Strange things happen ing - - queens from a local bar have begun transfer ring their talents. We don’t know why yet, but thanks anyway, T.C. Speaking of talent, the out of town guest spots around here are getting better and more varied Ap pearing in me past few weeks from Nashville were Prudence Pill and the one and only rah-rah girl of the South -- “Cheer leader.’’ Our own local 1 talent is, of course some of the best and some times it’s hard to keep up with them. Who is the new sophisticated Lorraine North? She sure bears a striking resemblance to our own Polly Grip. Could it be? Have you heard that a certain “meter maid’’ is sueing a local T.V. per sonality for$100,000? He’s sure to win and what a party there will be. after wards. Should Harry be invited? That is the ques tion. Back to the pageant,-- who was the “red chick en’’ who frequented the Shows Around Town On Feb. 15th, we were invited to revue the show at My House Lounge. The show Atlanta Follies, Broadway Babies, currently features Bobbi Holiday as Star performer and Show Director. While reviewing the show, we found that My House has a let to offer.; The Opening number was a take-off of the Supremes; and was very well done by Bobbi Holiday, Alvana Gre ase and Leslie Lyondon Ross. Kevin Masters is something new. She is the show’s Male Impersonator, and a very talented perfor mer. It seems that even ^though she is only working at My House less than b month, she has her own following of fans and will prove to be a big draw for the business. If you haven’t seen Bobbi Holiday do “Elis Coming,” you are missing wnat we consider one of her sexiest numbers. Alvina Grease was not to be outdone as she did a groovy Liza number in “Caberet”. Tall and sexy Leslie London Ross was a definite hit in the Opening number and Lullaby of Bro adway with Alvina. At one point in the show Leslie was doing a fast dance num ber and opps! off it came. She twisted and twirled fur iously as her wig hit the stage. Disregarding this Leslie didn’t miss a beat, and continued her number The audience loved it and Leslie proved what a “pro fessional’ ’ performer she is. The “Grand Finale” feat ured Bobbi, Alvina and Les lie in a naughty but nice Can Can number. The show was really great and the “strobe lighting” effect added to it. We would like to ment ion that Micky Lee was there doing a Guest Spot and she was “truly teriffic.” We hope to see Micky at My House again, as a regular performer. Show Place 01 The South The Sweet Gum Head did it again! It was a wild party, with audience parti cipation as the “good old days of rock ‘n roll” were revived. There were prizes galore fOr the winners of the dance contests, name that tune contest, and best outfit contest of the “gone but not forgotten” era. Tom Tom, the Gum Head's ; No. 1 Disc Juckey emceed a take off on American Bandstand program, the kids in the show danced with the audience, put on funny skits pertaining to the rock ‘n roll era and 1 Julie even came on stage as the world-famous Etzel Pretzel. With so many peo ple swooning at her feet, smelling salts came in mi ghty handy. There was one point in the show where a mysterious “Lady in - black” went on stage to tip Etzel, and being overwhel med with his charms, sim ply “keeled over back wards”, It was a hel luva thud as all six foot four of her? fell at Julies feet. It was a time of ce lebration for all, and hope fully the Gum Head will throw another bash like this again. Can you ima gine Deva Sanchez in bob by socki doing the Lindey Hop.? i It was wild. . men’s restroom wreck ing all the straight men? We’ve heard that it’s our own C. N. Could it be? --with red feathers flying? Who is Miss Gay Hunts ville? Chattanooga wants ; to know -- is it or is it' not J. B.? Who is the red neck queen who threatens to put oombs in cars of peo ple who don’t pay tabs? Hey, B.M., what if you don’t have a car? Rumors has it that B.S. bleaches her hair. It must be true that blonds have more fun. Does Betty Boo real ly wear her sportswear to the dirty movies? Which female impersonator trades dresses with your writer? It’s been said they go to the Big Girl shop together. Speaking of female impersonators- - which one has two babies named after him? Are they yours Misti? Misti- Dawn just had another bir thday -- 18 again, Misti? The Powder Puff will open a new elegant dinner club in a new location on May 3rd. There’s no ques tion about at fact. It’s true. Originally from Bardstown Kentucky, Rachel has tra velled quite a bit and per formed at various well known places in Datona, Florida, Tampa, Pensacola, throughout the Carolinas, and of course the Atlanta area. She has 2-1/2 years experience as a profession al Female Impersonator and holds the Miss Gay Atlanta 1972 Title. Versitility com es easy to this Virgo, and she is not only one of die star performers at Sweet Gum Head, the showplace, of the South, but the Show Director as well. Rachel enjoys T.V., plants and loves animals. One of her interests is collecting an tiques and unusual items Don’t be surprised if you happen to bump into her browsing around one of Atlanta’s Flea Markets or antique shows. Rita Hayworth is Rachel's favorite personality, and she admits to having many ambitions but her greatest ambition is “to find the purpose for my existance.” We’re sure you wiF Rachel, but until you do, consider the fact that you have many loyal fans that enjoy your performances tremendous ly. That’s a purpose for existance, now isn’t it? Rachel can be seen nitely at The #1 Showplace of the South, Sweet Gum Head.
