METROPOLITAN COMMUNITY CHURCH
Is Built On Three Foundations:
Spiritual, Social and Service.
By Rev. Jim Snow
I. Spiritual
MCC offers public wor
ship services every Sun
day at 2:30 p.m. and 6:30
p.m., and on alternate Wed
nesdays at 8:00p.m. The
2:00 p.m. service on Sun
day is a formal service
which can best be describ
ed as a midstream Pro
testant service. Holy Com
munion is offered each week
and is a meaningful part
of the service. The 6:30
p.m. Sunday and 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday services are
more informal and include
a short sermon and many
of the “favorite” hymns
of the church.
II. Social
The social outreach of
MCC Atlanta is as varied
as the people who attend.
After each service, a
pot full of hot coffee and
some good conversation is
available in the lobby. This
is a chance to “dish the
dirt’’ from the preceding
week, but especially to
meet new friends and vis
itors who are attending the
service.
On Sunday nights at 7:30
p.m. , the church has its
MCC Movie Night. These
movies run the gamut from
comedy to tragedy featur -
ing many old time stars.
(Mae West, Tallulah Bank-
head, W.C. Fields, etc.)
Movies with a homosexual
theme have shown such as
“Fortune In.Mens Eyes,”
and “Advise and Consent ”
Give the church a call for
the film of the week at

Other social events in
clude parties and dances
such as the famous MCC
Fourth of July picnic in the
Park and the Halloween
Ball, For those who like
to eat and cook, MCC sch
edules congregational din
ners.
III. Service
MCC offers professional
Counseling from crisis in
tervening to in-depth pas
toral counseling. The staff,
in coordination with refer
ral agencies in Atlanta, can
be of aid to you in help
ing to solve personal pro
blems. This counseling is
always in confidence and
since we are homosexuals
dealing with homosexuals,
we better understand the
problems you 'may face.
An important outreach of
the church is the speaking
engagements at colleges,
universities, and other
groups in the Southeast.
As we enter into dialogue
with heterosexuals it is
our purpose to share with
them any and all informat
ion that could better enable
them to accept and under
stand the homophile comm
unity.
Metropolitan Community
Church is many things, but
mainly it is you-homosex
ual, heterosexual, Blacks
whites, females, or males;
it is you as one of God’s
children helping someone
else to know the joy and the
fullness of life.

We Three
Review
Charles Elkins, owner of the
We Three Lounge in Macon,
presented a terriffic and enter
taining show for his patrons,
April 12th. Peral Bailee re
turned to We Three to perform
and was welcomed with arous
ing round of applause. Its easy
to see that Miss Bailee has
a devoted following of adoring
fans wherever she performs.
There was something new on
the agenda too. Astonished
Maconites stared in disbelief as
Drescena Drape went into her
CosmicComedy act. Sheclimbed
walls, kissed customers, threw
herself into people’s laps, and
rollerskated into the hearts of
everyone there. Miss Stephanie
proved to be a big hit with
the Maconites, and a good time
was had by all.
Beaver, (a well known per
sonality around Atlanta) disc
jockeyed the show, and
Atlanta’s own “Rat Pack” was
present to join in die merri
ment In Macon, it’s the We
Three and a most friendly and
courteous host, Charles Elkins'
invites Atlantans to “drive on
down.”; The trip is a little over
an hour, and well worth the
time
For Animal
Lovers Only
I wonder how many of our
readers are animal lovers? I
am willing to bet lhat more
than 50% are. Well, I would
like to introduce to you a very
worthwhile charity. . . For
Cats. . .It is The National Cat
Protection Society. These
people undertake die task of
helping our little feline friends,
who ordinarily stay in the sha
dow of “Man’s Best Friend,
the dog.” I have never under
stood why most people can feel
sorry for a stray dog, yet chase
away a stray starving cat Un
fortunately, this seems to be
the case. In any respect, there
is a man, a very wonderful
man in my estimation,, who is
devoting his life in die fight
to help “the forgotten ones.”
His name is Richard Calore
and he is the founder of this
Society. On numerous occa
sions he has disregarded his
awn safety to save helpless cats
and kittens. The Society has a
Cat Retirement Center, a med-
ica treatment and spaying pro
gram. to try to help control
the overbreeding problem, and
an animal shelter. No animal
is ever turned away and de
fenseless animals are not put
to sleep or sold for horrible
laboratory experiments, be
cause they have no “proper
pedigree papers”or owner.
Mr. Calore modern day cru
sader tor tnose time ones max
cannot speak fox themselves.
If you have a cat, or dog,
won’t you help others that are
less fortunate? Some animals
only know the harshness of a
human voice when they have
scrounged for food. It’s so easy
to do. Just send a check or mon
ey order today. The Society can
use all the help that is offered.
You will also be-helping an*
other deserving “minority
group.” Donations are tax de
ductable, and can be sent to Na
tional Cat Protection Soceity,
2230 Maine Ave., Long Beach,
California, 90806.
Thanx you,

Building Better Bodies
By Ray Martin
Dear Ray,
I am a beginning weight lifter
and I have to workout athome,
alone. Will you please tell me
the correct way to do curls. I
always give out of breath and
don’t know when to inhale and
exhale.
Sammy
Gainesville, Fla.
Dear Sammy,
For a two arm curl stand with
your feet about shoulder width
apart and arms extended at
your sides holding the barbell
across the thighs with palms
facing forward. Keep your
back and legs straight and ex
hale while curling the barbell
toward the shoulders until the
forearms and biceps meet as
demonstrated in the photo.
Lower the barbell until your
arms are completely extended
and repeat Useas much weight
as you can handle without ex
cessive straining for about six
sets of eight reps.
Dear Ray,
I have been bodybuilding for
a couple of years and would
like to make greater progress.
Is it advisable to take some of
the muscle building drugs that
I hear some of the competitive
bodybuilders take to increase
their body mass?
Cliff
Adanta, Ga.
D ear Cliff,
No. These androgenic -
anabolic steroid drugs can be
dangerous. If enough are taken
they can upset the hormone
balance of the hody*^. Few.
lifters use them. Some claim
hig gains; others claim they
actually hinder their per
formance. At any rate they
should be take- only under the
supervision of a doctor and
never for an extended period
of time
