ATLANTA BARB-Page 4 Festivities Galore At Dogwood*74 Dear Editor, I was honored to be with the Rev. Troy Perry at My House Lounge on Saturday, April 13lh. He greeted the poeple with a smile and shook hands with many. This old woman is thrilled that a person like Rev. Troy Perry is a represen tative of die homophile com munity. Troy makes a person feel like they have a new lease on life. I was also among the guests at the dedication of the new MCC budding Easter Sunday where Hev. Perry spoke, and was thrilled to hear over two hundred people lifting their voices in songs of praise Both gays and straights joined to gether. to celebrate the dedica tion of the MCC which I feel is aAQJtho: “great step for man” in the homophUe community. Everyone shook hands with the people around mem and friendship and love was felt among everyone. I send my congratulations to the mem bers and Rev. John Gill, on the dedication of their new facility, and I hope that die MCC will have much success at this place of worship Beaver Dear Editor, Enclosed is $4.00 for my sub scription to the Atlanta Barb. I enjoy reading your fine news- paper. yj You might call me a “bar hopper”, because I visit regu larly most of the bars and lounges in Adanta. It surprises me that there are a few bars here that aren’t really behind die Barb. I think that you are doing a fine job for all of us in the gay community, and would like to see everyone thrust their support into it, be cause we have needed this for a long time, BjA Adanta, Ga. Dear BJA, It’s nice to receive letters like this one, and we want to thank you especially for your sub scription. You will begin re ceiving the Barb atyour home next month. We do agree, and have been told by many of our support ers, that this is a much needed publication not only in Atlanta, but the Southeast aswell, which we are now covering. Most of the bars and establishments are supporting the B arb with either advertising or handling the sales of the paper; those that we have contacted. It’s reason able to assume that we wiL never gain the support from J.00% and we would be foolish to even expect it. We are thankful for the many that we do have and as a result h ave made rap-lid growth and expansion. With-out Them we would never have;been able to achieve this. | • • • • # 1 Open To All • * Gay Men’s • • Rap Group * • Community * • Crisis Center # # Every Thursday # 7:30 - 10:30 # Peachtree Place * At Spring f * Atlanta, Ga. • f f v ft! r On Thursday evening, April, 11th the Atlantis Mo torcycle Club began playing host to representatives of twenty-six different mo torcycle clubs as “Dog wood ‘74’ got under way.
