ATLANTA BARB- Page 6 Gay-ing To The Movies With S.W. Jan-Michael Vincent And Joan Goodfellow in "Buster And Billie" Remember the “Fabu lous Fifties”? Three new movies--at least two of which should be in Atlanta and other cities this month will remind you. Like the decade itself, the pictures are not all that fabulous. The best of the lot, “Buster and Billie,” is actually set in 1948; and since it takes place in rural Georgia, it looks like it could be earlier. If you saw “The Last Picture Show,” you’ve seen about half of “Buster and Billie”; several cha racters and situations are common to both. But who will want to miss another nude swimming scene when this one includes a frontal shot of Jan- Michael Vincent? He plays Buster, the most popular guy in high school (and the only one with crow’s feet!) He’s supposed to marry Margie (Pamela Sue Martin) when they grad uate. But he becomes attrac - ted to the inner beauty of Billie (Joan Goodfellow), a girl who has none on the outside. Her appeal to this point has been her willingness to ball any- and everyone. When Buster takes their source of pleasure out of em ulation. his friends turn against him. leading to a tragic ending. “Buster and Billie” is well-acted, an offbeat but generally believable love story. At the other end of the gamut is “Our Time,” Dear Luv Lee, I have a very personal problem. It’s about the lives and loves of girls in a New England private school in 1955. Actually', it’s about two girls, Pamela Sue Martin (again!) and Betsy Slade. Pamela Sue is the pretty one. who finds true love with a pretty boy, Parker Stevenson (of “ASeparate Peace”-. They “do it” for the first time in a Boston hotel. Betsy is less fortunate when she- “goes all the way.” It’s in .the back of a Chevy with George O’Hanlon, Jr., a gangly youth who adores her. Naturally, such love leads to a “love child,” which leads to an abortion, which leads to another tragic ending. If you like movies, you’ll find “Our . Time” a tragedy from start to fin ish. Advancing a couple of years chronologically, and a couple of decades cinematically, we come to “The Lords of Flatbush.” The only thing it has in common with “Our Time is a girl wearing a poodle shirt. But it has a happy end ing. and it doesn’t have Pamela Sue Martin; so it can't be all bad. Flatbush is a section of Brooklyn, and “The plex because of this and I can’t get up the nerve to even talk to anyone, unless I am plastered. This is not a joke letter, please believe that and answer. Shortchanged Dear Shortchanged, First of all, you were not. You see, many men both straight and gay suf fer from this problem. Wake up! Size does not make the man. It isn’t the equipment a guy has it’s the way he uses what nature provided him with. No lasting relationship is based on the size of some one’s penis. I would'Sug gest that you see a doc tor and discuss this prob lem with him. The most important thing is to rid yourself of your hangups concerning this. Booze is not the answer. If you want to go back 15-25 years, these movies will take you there. “Buster and Billie” takes you to the Georgia country side, “The Lords of Flatbush” to the Brooklyn streets, and “Our Time” to Fantasy land. me. I know it would nev er work between us and he has recently said that if I want him to, he will room with me. What should I do? Any advice you can give me will be appreciated.
