New York City.—The instruction given to over 2,000 children in dental hygiene, in the rural schools of New York and Connecticut, is one of the pioneering activities of the National Council of Jewish Women, conducted by its Department of Farm and Rural W’ork, of which Mrs. F.lmer Eckhouse is National Chairman. According to a report made by the Council’s Oral Hygienist, Mae Kup- perman, the dental hygienist is totally unknown to the children in many of the “district” schools. There is great need for the operative and edu cational service of the dental hygien ist. A completely equipped portnble dental clinic, under the direction of the Council’s Oral Hygienist, is taken from village to village, and to the rural cross-roads. Educational talks are presented and prophylactic work is done. This project was undertaken by the Department of Farm and Rural Work, of the National Council of Jewish Women ns a result of the health work promoted for several years. Stnte, School, and Health authori ties have expressed their approval and appreciation of these Council ac tivities among the children in the rural districts. CALHOUN 288 West Peachtree, !\. W.
