next meeting of the Atlanta ( hapter
Junior Hadassah, which will be in the
form of a picnic luncheon on May
:>th at Camp Victor. The honor guests
will include all new members of the
chapter who will be escorted by the
old members. Interesting arrange
ments are being made by the chair
men, the Misses Polly Gershon and
hMia Rittenbaum, and the affair
promises to be unique in its originali
ty. The afternoon meeting following
the luncheon will feature the report
..f the nominating committee.

OSCAR LEONARD EXECUTIVE
DIRECTORS CHOSEN FOR
WASHINGTON
The Federation of Jewish Welfare
of Washington, D. C. has chosen Mr.
Oscar Leonard of St. Louis as its
Executive Director. Mr. Leonard is
a well known figure in Jewish com
munal life in America, having served
as head of the Jewish charitable and
educational endeavors of St. Louis for
ten years. He was a member of Unit
One of the Joint Distribution Commit
tee where he served as Social Service
Director of Roumania.
While in St. Louis Mr. lA*onard was
lecturer on Practical Problems of the
Social Settlement at the St. Louis
School of Social Economy of Wash
ington University, of which he is a
graduate. He also lectured on prac
tical sociology before Prof. Elwood’s
classes in Missouri University. Be
fore the Hebrew Union College, Mr.
Leonard delivered lectures on prob
lems of delinquents, feeble minded
and criminals.
Mr. Leonard served as secretary and
then presidentof the Missouri Con
ference of Social Welfare. He was one
of the organizers and for many years
an officer of the Central Council of
Social Agencies in St. Louis and a
member of the Children’s Code Com
mission appointed by Gov. Gardner of
Missouri.
He has contributed articles to num
erous magazines, both general and
Jewish. Two of his plays were pro
duced professionally, one “New Lamps
and Old” was presented by Wilton
Laekaye.
In the past two years Mr. Leonard
was engaged in the work of the Bnai
Brith Wider Scope Committee work
ing with Dr. Boris D. Boges, the dean
of Jewish Social workers.
The Federation of Jewish Welfare
in Washington comprises all Jewish
welfare activities in the District of
Columbia. The officers and directors
of the Federation are:
President, Major Julius I. Peysor;
first vice-president, Morris Oafritz;
second vice-president, Morris Carfin-
kle: third vice-president, Rabbi Wil
liam F. Rosenblum; treasurer, Paul
Himmelfarb; secretary, Mrs. Louis
Kronheimer.

HONOR LOVELY BRIDE
Mrs. Monte Hirsch and her daugh
ter, Mrs. I^eonard Haas, will be “at
home” from 4 to 6 o’clock Saturday,
May 4, at their home, 1013 Ponce de
Leon avenue, the lovely occasion hon
oring Mrs. Morris Hirsch, a recent
bride, and her mother, Mrs. Lee Weil,
of Birmingham, Ala.
Mrs. Morris Hirsch was before her
recent marriage, which was a bril
liant event, taking place in Birming
ham, Miss Julia Weil, a belle and
beauty of the Alabama city.
The “at home” honoring the lovely
bride and her mother will assemble
several hundred members of society,
the occasion to be among the out
standing events of the week’s social
calendar.
Mrs. Walter Wolf of New York,
spent opera week as the guest of Mr.
and Mrs. L. J. Elsas.
Mr. Arthur Gittelman, of Philadel
phia, Pa., spent the week-end in At
lanta.
