JEWISH WOMAN’S CLUB
The regular monthly meeting of the
Jewish Woman’s Club was held Mon
day evening, May 13th, at 8 o’clock at
the clubhouse on Washington St. The
meeting was conducted as a Southern
Meeting, Mrs. Herbert Taylor, pro
gram chairman, presenting a South
ern program, and the refreshments
served were typical Southern dishes.
Of first importance was the recom
mendation to the body of the new by
laws for adoption.
Miss Lillian Single having sent in
her resignation as corresponding
secretary, the office will be filled by
Miss Esther Seigel with Mrs. H.
Axelrod as assistant corresponding
secretary.
Mrs. Mendel Boorstin, chairman of
the civic department, announced that
splendid work was accomplished dur
ing National Music Week by a very
beautiful musical program arranged
by Miss Mary Tennenbaum and given
at the club on May 5th.
The membership drive is drawing
to a close. The slogan for the drive is
“Every member bring a member.”
Mrs. H. Taylor, chairman of the
drive, has given a great deal of time
to this campaign and the co-opera
tion of the membership is urged in or
der that a good showing can be made.
JUNIOR II ADD ASS AII
One of the most interesting Junior
Hadassah meetings of the year was
the “picnic meeting” held at Camp
Victor, the lovely summer home of
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Kriegshaber, on
Sunday, May 5th. All paid-up mem
bers and new members were invited
to participate in the delightful al
fresco affair.
After a picnic spread, the meeting
was presided over by the vice-presi
dent, Miss Sara Shuman. Committee
reports were given, the feature of the
afternoon being the report of the
nominating committee. Their recom
mendations included Miss Rae Rosen
berg, for president; Miss Polly Ger-
shon, first vice-president; Miss Gladys
Shuman, second vice-president; Miss
Rose Schrieber, corresponding secre
tary; Miss Lillian Esserman, assis
tant corresponding secretary; Miss
Frances Heilman, recording secre
tary; Miss Gertrude Wald, treasurer;
and Miss Lynn Rittenbaum, financial
secretary. Nominations from the body
were also held.
The delightful conclusion was a
travesty on a court room scene por
trayed by several of the members.
Miss Sarah Gershon was responsible
for this amusing entertainment.
The final meeting of the year will
be the annual “Mother-Daughter
Day” meeting and will be held the
last Sunday in May.
