COUNCIL SCHOOLS HOLD CON FIRMATION EXERCISES Rabbis Co-operate in Religious Program New York City.—In a large num ber of religious schools conducted by the local Sections of the National Council of Jewish Women, many Rab bis will officiate at the Confirmation Exercises during the month of June, stated Mrs. A. S. Kohler, National Chairman of its Department of Re ligion and Religious Education. Some of these exercises, explained Mrs. Kohler, will be held on Shabuoth, whereas others will take place on the Sunday following this festival, when Rabbis will be free to leave their communities for neighboring cities, in which many of these schools are situ ated. These exercises have been preceded by careful and thorough plans. In the Southwestern district of Penn sylvania, the Field Supervisor for Re ligious Schools, Miss Miriam Schon- field of Pittsburgh, held a Confirma tion Roundtable at her home, in which the superintendents and teachers of schools in Brownsville, Carnegie, Cen ter Avenue, Ford City, Greensburg, Homestead, Homewood, Irwin, Kittan- ing, McKees Rocks and West End par ticipated. Chicago Council Section makes a special plea to its membership to make a contribution to its Child and Youth Fund, in honor of a boy or girl who is being confirmed, instead of sending the conformant a gift. This fund enables a boy or girl to obtain a vacation at the Council Camp of Chicago Section. In Cleveland, a class of 46 boys and girls has been receiving special in struction under the direction of Mr. Brilliant, Educational Director of the Euclid Avenue Temple, and will be confirmed by Rabbi Barnett R. Brick- ner. A special class that has con tinued its studies three years beyond confirmation, will be graduated. GERMAN POLICE DISCOVERS AN TI-SEMITIC CONSPIRACY TO WRECK SYNAGOGUES. Jews Volunteer As Watchmen. Berlin (J. T. A.).—A widespread plot engineered by anti-Semitic lead ers to wreck synagogues and Jewish temples was uncovered by the police. The police arrested four men in con nection with the recent attack on a synagogue at Arnsberg, Westphalia, Prussia. On one of the arrested men documents were found showing the extent of the conspiracy. In several Prussian communities lo cal Jewish citizens volunteered to act as guards to watch the synagogues during the night.
