I'mensored reports reaching here fr.>rn Jerusalem describe the situation at the close of the fourth day of the Arab-Jewish warfare as extremely jjravt notwithstanding the presence of a larger number of British troops and marines in the country’. Direct reports coming from the leaders of the Jewish population con tained a serious charge against those in command in Palestine. Isaac Ben-Zvi, Jew’ish labor leader, at 9 p. M. Monday evening telephoned here to say that the attacks spread Monday all over the country, in the north and in the south, in the Valley of Jezreel and in Haifa, in Tel Aviv md Jerusalem. Many are reported killed and wounded in all places. "Many from among us have been killed. Our arms have been taken away by the authorities but not from the Arabs,” Mr. Ben-Zvi stated. “The riots continued in Haifa,” he Beirut, Syria, August 26 (J. T. A.) A report reached this city in the morning that a new band of Arabs are concentrating in Nablus intending to march on Jeru salem. According to hospital records there were 80 dead of whom 59 are Jews. Two hundred and thirty-three injured persons were recorded. Gruesome scenes occurred during the massacres in various parts of the country. Unspeakable cruelties were committed by the savage Arab assail ants when even women and small children were ruthlessly murdered and houses destroyed. David Sheinberg of Pennsylvania, 22 years old, student at the Hebron Yeshiva. Wolf Greenberg, New’ York, 17 years old, student at the Hebron Ye shiva. Henry David Epstein, student at the Hebron Yeshiva. Krasner, student at the Hebron Yeshiva. Harry Frunen, student at the He bron Yeshiva. Benjamin Horwitz, 17, of 96 Jewell Street, Brooklyn, student at the He bron Yeshiva. A. Vialnai, Jerusalem, student at the Hebrew teachers’ Seminary of Jerusalem. Mrs. Ungar and her little daughter, of Hebron. Rabbi Schach of Motza. Rabbi Glazer, killed at Motza. Engineer Raitan, member of a pro minent Sephardic family of Jerusa lem. Reuben Volpo, Jerusalem. Slonim, manager of the He bron branch of the Anglo-Palestine Company (it w’as erroneously report ed previously that his father, Rabbi Jacob Joseph Slonim was killed). Rabbi Franco, Sephardi, Hebron. Rabbi Hassoun, Sephardi, Hebron. 5 members of the Makleff family, including husband, wife and 5 child ren slaughtered at Motza, near Jeru salem. Wounded The following American boys, stud ents at the Slobodka Yeshiva at He bron: Raklin Winchester, Springfield, Ill. Samuel Senders, Brooklyn. Lester and Max Ilarbaiter of Brook- lyn, Lester 16 years, Max 18. Raoul de Koven, son of prominent Chicago physician. Also, Dr. Walter Moses, president Tel Aviv Manufacturers Association. Eight more Jews were buried in Jerusalem Sunday night in the ceme tery on the Mount of Olives includ ing Sergeant Norka of the Jerusalem police force and Demantstein. Chief Rabbi A. J. Kook visited the English Oxford student, Wenny, who is lying wounded at the Hadassah hospital. The Chief Rabbi blessed the patient. The Polish Consul General at Jeru salem, Zbyszewski, called at the Ha dassah hospital to express his sym pathy. I>ondon, August 26 (J. T. A.)—The correspondent of the Jewish Tele graphic Agency at Beirut, Syria, was ordered to proceed to Jerusalem to join staff of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. He cabled London headquar ters that it was impossible for him to enter Palestine. AMERICAN CONSUL REPORTS SOME NAMES Washington, D. C., August 26 (J. T. A.)—The State Department has re ceived telegrams from Paul Knaben- shue, American Consul in Jerusalem reporting the following American Jewish students at the Slobodka Yeshiva in Hebron, Palestine: Jacob C. Wexler of Chicago and Benjamin Hurwitz of New York City. Consul Knabenshue also reported that among the wounded were the fol lowing American students: Moses Feivel Mitovin, A. Dov Monkin, Elie- zer Harbater nnd Moses Harbater. The last two are now with their par ents in Jerusalem. Consul Knabenshue added that ad ditional names will be telegraphed later. Warsaw, August 26 (,J. T. A.) — The Polish Foreign officer informs the correspondent of the Jewish Tele graphic Agency here that the Con sul General of Poland in Jerusalem, Mr. Zbyszewski, called on acting High Commissioner H. C. Luke as the sen ior of the diplomatic corps in the Holy City demanding adequate protection for foreign citizens and for the diplo matic corps. Mr. Zbyszewski visited the colony B’nai Brak consisting of Polish Jews which was said to be in danger.
