Hadassah Emergency Shower a I Jewish Club The Atlanta Chapter of Hadassah emergency shower of clothing and lin ens for the unfortunate Palestine suf ferers held at the Jewish Woman’s Club this week was a great success. Two large boxes of supplies were sent to headquarters in New York, to be forwarded immediately to the Holy Land. Rabbi H. Epstein gave an in spiring talk in which he encouraged renewed interest for the new year, es pecially in view of the fact that the new year will bring added burdens to loyal Hadassah workers in order to relieve the conditions prevalent in Palestine since the recent massacres. Rabbi Epstein praised the work Ha dassah is doing and has done in the past. A description of what Hadassah is doing in the present emergency in Palestine was supplied by Mrs. Zip E. Szold, president of Hadassah, in an address at the recent protest meet ing held at the Madison Square Gar den in New York City: “On both sides of the Atlantic the name of Hadassah will, I think, he remembered during this period. However, at such a time, when the heart of Jewry throughout the world is moved and incensed at these atrocities, there must he people who may think clearly, who see far ahead and who can enter into the prop er negotiations, so that these Jewish lives will not he lost in vain, so that the future of Palestine can he saved, that manly, upstanding, self-support ing Jewish men and women may re populate the land of their fathers and give a new meaning to the Balfour declaration.” The emergency drive for these un fortunate sufferers conducted by the women of Hadassah is winding up its affairs this week. Any one who wish es to send funds should send them im mediately to the president, Mrs. L. J. Levitas, 888 Ponce de Leon Ave nue, N. E. No official receipts were sent to those who responded so generously to the call for help, and the organiza tion wishes to take this medium to thank everyone for their liberal aid. President Herbert Hoover expresses so ably the sentiments of the entire American people during this crisis a letter to the Zionist Organization • ! America: “I am glad of the oppor tunity to express my profound sym pathy with those who have been be reaved and who have suffered through these disturbances. I am confident out of these tragic events will conie great er security and greater safeguards for the future, under which the steady re habilitation of Palestine as a true homeland will he even more assured An immediate and pressing question is the relief to those who are suffer ing.
