Come forward and the writer will introduce you to an interesting and new experience. If I Were A Christian (Continued from Page 4) Jesus and Christianity, writes on Palestine for a number of American journals without one word of cita tion of the mind of the Jews in Palestine and quotes the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, a discredited and fan atical betrayer of his people, as com paring the coming of the Jews to an invasion of California by the Japanese people. And this is cited by one call ing himself a Christian, who assents by his unrebuking silence. One of the great Christian journals of America—the Christian Century— after years of effort on behalf of in ternational peace through the medium of the Kellogg Peace Pact, does not reveal a scintilla of understanding of or sympathy with the Jews, who, re solved to hurt none and to serve all. are setting forth upon another such creative spiritual and ethical adven ture as gave to the world the glorious generations from Ezra to Jesus. If I were a Christian, I should ask my self, “Why stands Christendom against the “Christ people.”—to use Zangwill’s term—and why, in the face of all the evidence and facts and moral as well as political rights, Hoes it render judgment on behalf of them that has despoiled and slain and raped, and render judgment against them that have been immeasurably wronged ? Why ? If I were a Christian, I should answer, “Because Christendom and Christianity seem ofttimes to be anti- nomous terms, because Christendom in its attitude to the Jew,—not uni versally, for there as many, many noble and glorious exceptions, bears itself as if it were bound to be free from every iota of the influence of Jesus the Jew, as if Christendom bad resolved that in its dealings with the Jew, its business was not to be Chris tian hut un-Christian, even anti- Christian.” MOTHER LOVE LET US SHOW YOU HOW The Southern Israelite Can Co-operate WITH Your Organization BAY LIS OFFICE EQUIPMENT COMPANY Office Furniture Commercial Stationery 76 Marietta, N.
