B'nai IVnth News Officers Elected At the last election of officers held in January, the following men were elected: L. J. Levitas, president; Sam E. Levy, vice president; Harold Mar cus, treasurer; Joseph M. Brown, sec retary; and J. S. Brail, the retiring president, is now monitor. The new trustees are Charles M. Bergman, M. Stephen SehitTcr, Edward M. Kahn, Sinclair Jacobs and Davis Ajouelo. Dr. Rubinow Speaks Dr. Isaac M. Rubinow, newly-ap pointed executive secretary of the na tional order of B’nai B'rith and prominent figure in the social service profession, addressed a gathering at a luncheon at the Ansley Hotel re cently. Dr. Rubinow outlined the pur pose of the Hillel Foundation as in tended to promote various extra academic interests among Jewish col lege students throughout America, and also spoke of the Wider Scope movement, and the Anti-Defamation league. Committee Meets at Washington. Harry A. Alexander, and Hyman Jacobs were representatives at the General Committee Meeting, of the District Grand Lodge No. 5, I. C. B. B. held at Washington, D. C., on Jan uary 14. Plans were laid for the establishment of a sanatorium at Asheville, N. C., the need for which is greatly evident in that community, and from present indications the plans will be carried through to an early completion. Hebrew Benevolent Congregation Elects President Retiring President Is Presented With Watch at Meeting Election of Harold Hirsch as presi dent of the Hebrew Benevolent Con gregation, and presentation of a gold watch to Nathan Saltzman, retiring president, featured the annual meet ing of the congregation at the Stand ard Club. Other officers elected were: Alfred Fox, first vice-president; Sigmund Montag, second vice-president; Max F. Goldstein, third vice-president; Si mon Solig, treasurer, and Sol Golden, secretary. Dr. David Marx is rabbi of the congregation. Mr. Harold Hirsch and Dr. Marx paid tribute to the retiring president. Mr. Hirsch presented the watch to Mr. Saltzman on behalf of the temple board, in appreciation of his services during his three years as president. Reading of annual reports by the committee chairman also took place at the meeting. United Hebrew School to Have Purim Ball At an enthusiastic meeting of the United Hebrew School held at the Jewish Progressive Club, plans were laid for a huge Purim Ball, and of ficers to carry out these plans, were elected.
