Baruch, Chairman of the War Industries Board under President Wilson, has proposed the establishment of a “Supreme Court of Business,” whose purpose it would be to restrain overproduction without govern mental interference. This would prevent such periods of depression as the country is now experiencing, he said in the course of an address to the Boston Chamber of Commerce. It is believed that Barauch’s proposal may lead to concrete action on the part of America's business leaders. Jewish Girls Resign From Masonic Group in Protest Against Christian Symbols Los Angeles, Calif.—The enforced use of certain Christian symbols in the ritual of Bethel Lodge No. 10, Jobs’ Daughters, an organization affiliated with the Ma sonic order and one hundred percent Jew ish in membership has caused the resigna tion of Cecelia Mark, University of Cali fornia student as Queen and a large num ber of the 200 members. For the last five and a half years a special dispensation had been granted to the Bethel No. 10 to make changes in the ritual which would not offend the reli gious feelings of its members. Within the last six months threats had been made upon the Bethel by the Grand Guardian of the state of California to revoke its charter unless it returned to the use of the Christian symbols. Fhirteen Jews Get Yale Scholarships New Haven, Conn. — Of 179 fellow ships and scholarships awarded by the Graduate School of Yale University for next year 13 are assigned to Jewish students for research study abroad and for continued work in the Graduate School. Bronx Teachers to Sponsor Course In Yiddish New York.—The latest addition to the growing number of Yiddish courses is the one to be offered as part of its series of lectures by the Bronx Borough-Wide Association of Public and High School Teachers. Chicago Jewish Institute Players Win Dramatic Cup Chicago (JTA).—For the first tinn in its history, the Institute Players Guild of the Jewish People Institut won the coveted Edith Rockefeller McCormick Cup in the Greater Chi cago Drama League Contest with the play, “The Tenth Man,” by Elma Ehr lich Lovinger, which it presented for the contest. The largest single award of the contest also went to the Insti tute Players’ Guild when Ralph School man took the first prize for diction of fered by Mr. Mortimer Singer, head of the Orpheum Circuit. “The Tenth Man” was staged by Charles Freeman, director of the In stitute Players’ Guild, who was pre sented with the cup. Education Board With Bias New York, N. Y. (WNS).—The mem bers of the examining board of the New York City Board of Education were charged with anti-Jewish preju dice by Maurice E. Biederman in a speech before the Judea Democratic Club of Brooklyn. He declared that Jewish candidates for teachers’licenses, even if they pass their written exami nations well, most often are declared ineligible on their oral tests. He urged the Jews of Brooklyn to band together politically in order to end such dis crimination. B'nai B’rith City Library Dedicated In Jerusalem Cincinnati.—A cablegram to Alfred M.
