LAWRENCE B. COHEN, JR., a Harvard freshman, who was arrested recently for distributing Socialistic propaganda at the Boston Garden, re signed from the college recently of his own accord. Cohen informed univer sity authorities that he was leaving col lege to devote himself and his time to promote Socialism. FELIX M. W ARBURG, recognized leader in American finance, an out standing social worker, a patron of the arts, a real Jew, merited as did no one else the magnificent tribute tendered him by distinguished leaders of nation al prominence, Jews, and non-Jews, re cently in New York on the occasion of the opening of the New York drive of the Allied Jewish campaign. PROF. MONROE E. DEUTSCH, for years dean of men at the Univer sity of California, has been elected to the vice-presidency of the institution. He is believed to he the second Jew to occupy such a position in an American "o liege. PROFESSOR EINSTEIN; FRED ERICK BROWN, New York realtor and philanthropist, and Rabbi David Lefkowitz were awarded honorary de grees by the University of Cambridge, Lincoln Memorial University, and the Southern Methodist University, re spectively. RABBI MICHAEL AARONSON. the blind field representative of the Union American Hebrew Congrega tions, married his childhood sweetheart, Rachel Zemon. Rabbi Aaronson, with his sister Dora as his guide, has trav eled as a spiritual representative over more than 100,(XX) miles since he was graduated. DR. ISRAEL TREIMAN, 30-year- old lawyer of St. Louis, has been ap pointed Professor of Law at the W ash- ington University. Dr. Treiman has the distinction of being the youngest member of the faculty and the only Jewish Professor of Law in the Uni versity. LEE W EINROTT, Philadelphia at torney, was appointed by Governor hishcr of Pennsylvania, as counsel for the Pennsylvania Securities Commis sion. FREDERICK LANSBKRG, immi grant Jew from Russia, who peddled his way to Victoria, B. C„ on the Pa cific coast of Canada in 1.X84, was win ner of the Appreciation Medal given annually by the Victoria Post of the Native Sons and Daughters of British Columbia for the man who has upheld in the best possible manner the ideals of good citizenship.
