Mr. Blank, chairman of Committee on Thanks, in submitting his report, ex pressed the appreciation to the Southeast ern Conference of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations for having called this Conference into session; to the Tree of Life Congregation and the community of Columbia for their hospitable recep tion; to Mr. Louis B. Simmons and Mrs. J. M. Cohen, both of Columbia, co-chair men, for the splendid manne rin which the arrangements were made; to Mr Harold Hirsch for his guidance and bril liant address; to Rabbi Gustave Falk, regional director of the Southeast, and secretary of the Southeastern Conference, for his commendable efforts which made possible this Conference; to Mr. Wen dell M. Levi, Chairman, for the eloquent manner in which he conducted the meet ing; to Mrs. Sol Kohn for her assistance as recording secretary. Rabbi Gustave Falk gave the following report on the number of delegates and visitors at the meeting. ‘‘I am pleased to make the following report of the number of delegates and visitors attending this Conference: 1. Number of delegates registered 28 2. Ex-officio delegates 4 3. Number of visitors registered 155 4. Number of students of U. S. C. 30 5. Number of students from Winthrop College in Rock Hill 7 6. Approximate number of visitors who did not register 50 273 Sixteen congregations, sisterhoods and brotherhoods in South Carolina affiliated with the Southeastern Congregation of the Union of American Hebrew Congre gations were invited to semi thirty-four delegates. With the exception of Dillon, everyone was represented, sending twenty - eight delegates. Abbeville, Batesburg, Beaufort, Cam den, Charleston, Columbia, Bishopville, Florence, Greenwood, Greenville, Rock Hill, Spartanburg, St. Matthews, Sumter, Timmonsville, Darlington, Gaffney, were the communities in South Carolina rep resented. 17 communities in South Carolina were represented. 2 communities in Georgia were repre sented. 1 community in Ohio was represented. 1 community in New York was repre sented. 21 communities had representation at this conference.” Rabbi Samuel Shillman, of Sumter, pronounced the benediction. “What Metcalf says is so” C.
