Rabbi Berlin tendered hi- resignation as a protest against the method of negotiations being conducted between Jewish Agency leaders and the British government. V CARDINAL BERTRAM, chairman of the bishops’ conference, of Breslau. Germany, recently issued a manifesto addressed to German Catholics, remind ing them that real love for their father- land means brotherly love for the vari ous peoples in Germany, as well as an understanding for the capabilities of other peoples. The manifesto regretted that “embittered people running after leaders who are themselves without aim are spreading corrupt ideas and counteracting stabilization work”. V EDGAR C. LEVEY, member of the state legislature from San Francisco, was recently re-elected speaker of the lower house for his third consecutive term. Mr. Levey is a former president of District No. 4, B’nai B’rith and a director of the local Jewish Welfare Board. ▼ DR. HERBERT LEVINSTEIN noted English chemist, was recenth awarded the medal of the Society of Chemical Industry, one of the world most coveted scientific honors. He was honored for his work in the dye stuft industry. During the late war. Dr Levinstein was known as a great au thority on poison gas. ▼ PROF.
