Misses Edith Epstein and Louise Solomonson of Druid Hills Scout Troop No. 1, were the recipients recently of the highest award in girl scouting, when they became Golden Eagle Scouts after five years in Troop Na 1. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Warner were re cently called to Birmingham, Ala., be cause of the illness of their mother. Master Sigfried Guthman, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Sigfried Guthman, of 1136 Virginia Avenue, is ill at his home. Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Tenenbaum re cently motored to Miami Beach, where they arc spending a few weeks. Mrs. Phil Phillips, of Erie, Pa., for merly Miss Eleanor Wylc, is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Armand Wylc. Miss Frances Saperstein, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Enoch Saperstein, of 730 Brookridgc Drive, N.E., is ill at the Piedmont Sanitarium. Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Michael, of Athens, Ga., wert the recent guests of their son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Rich. Mrs. Meyer Cullatt has returned to her home in Savannah, having been delightfully entertained as the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Adler. Miss Rebecca Brown has returned to her home in New York after visiting her aunt, Mrs. Eugene Oberdorfer. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Biers of New York were the recent guests of Mrs. Arthur Wisebcrg. Mr. and Mrs. Nathan W. Wolfe, of 928 North Highland Avenue, N.E., are in Athens, Ga., with their son, Nathan F. Wolfe, Jr., who is ill in Athens General Hospital. He has shown considerable im provement in the past few days and hopes arc held out for his complete recovery. Mrs. Leopold J. Haas has returned from a delightful stay in Philadelphia, Penna. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Goldberg an nounce the engagement of their daughter, Julia, to Mr. Jacob Butler, the date of the marriage to be announced later. Announcement is made of the engage ment of Miss Florence Bodne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. Bodne, of 711 Wash ington Street, to Mr. Seymore Komners, of New York. Mr. and Mrs. J. Tcsler, of Kinston, N. C., are visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Tesler, at 814 Capitol Ave nue, S.E. Mr. William Wise, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Wise, of 129 Washington Terrace, is ill at the Georgia Baptist Hospital. Miss Pearl Levison left recently for a two weeks’ stay in Cincinnati, Ohio. Miss Helen Bauer and Miss Helen Gef- fen were recently elected to Cum Laude, the highest honorary distinction at Girls’ High School. Miss Gcffcn also was chosen as one of three students there who have perfect postures. Miss Betty Wisebcrg has returned from Savannah where she was delight fully entertained. Miss Herincnia Wilensky was hostess at an enjoyable dance at her home on Park Drive assembling the younger contingent. Honoring her guest, Miss Margaret Grace, of Savannah, who is a student at Shorter College, Miss Regina Wein berg kept open house recently at her home, 537 Linwood Avenue. Miss Weinberg was assisted in entertaining by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. Wein berg, her brother, James Weinberg, and Miss Florence Farkas. Mrs. Joe Frankel has returned after visiting her relatives in Kentucky. Mr. Simpson Mathis of Chattanooga, Tenn., was the recent guest of his sister and brother, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gershon. Mrs. Libby Silverman entertained re cently at an informal dance at her home on Washington Street, assem bling the younger group. She was assisted in entertaining by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. Silverman, nad Miss Lee Stone. Mrs. Adolph Shulafer of Savannah, Ga., was the recent guest of Mrs. Wil liam Bauer. Mr. and Mrs. Morris Moss announce the engagement of their daughter, Carol, to Mr. Aaron Z. Oberdorfer of Jacksonville, Fla. Mrs. Sol Benjamin and daughter, Mrs. Sam Saltzman, are spending sev eral months in Miami, Florida. Mrs. Eugene Zacharias has returned from a visit in Toronto, Canada. Mr. and Mrs. Simon Selig have re turned from a few weeks’ stay in Florida. Mrs. Leo Frankel spent a few weeks in Tampa as the guest of her sister, Mrs. Leo Weiss. Mrs. M. Ullman of New York, was the recent guest of her sister, Mrs. Henry Kaufman. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wolfe spent a few days in Columbus, Ga., recently. Miss Carlyn M. Strauss has returned after having been the guest of her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Haas, in Montgomery, Ala. Miss Carol Rosenberg returned re cently after having spent the holidays with her grandmother, Mrs. A. Rosen berg in Greenwood, S. C. Mrs. Jake Bicrman, of Valdosta, who was formerly Miss Shirley Minsk of Atlanta, and young son, Maurice, were the guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Minsk at their home on Park way Drive. Mrs. Lloyd A. Springer, of Wood- mere, Long Island, was the recent guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Horwitz, on Briarcliff Road. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel A. Massell an nounce the birth of a son, at Piedmont Hospital, whom they have named How ard Baron Massell. Mrs. Max Kessler and daughter Sadie, spent a week in Mobile, Ala., recently visiting Mr. and Mrs. H. Lubel. While there they attended the marriage of Miss Saretta Lubel to Mr. Sol Livitz. Mr. and Mrs. Simon Mendel, and their son, Jerry, returned recently from a short stay in 'Miami, Florida. Mr. and Mrs. I. M. Weinstein and Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Jacobs returned recently from a two week’s stay in Miami. From Miami they travelled by plane to Havana, Cuba. Mr. Louis Montag left recently for New York, where he will make his future home. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wachtel cele brated their fifty-sevnth wedding anni versary recently, at the home of their daughter, Mrs. A. A. Shulhafer, Wesley Avenue. Friends and relatives called to extend good wishes. The home was profuse with beautiful flowers. Miss Mary Winer of Colutnb- Georgia, spent a few days in Atlan recently as the guest of her sister, Mr Sam Nissenbaum. Mr. and Mrs. Edel Jankower ar. spending a few days in Miami, Florida Mrs. Jacobs Harris Wilenski, of 551 Park Drive, entertained at a children*- party recently, complimenting her daughter, Gene Wilenski, in celebration of her twelfth birthday. The guests included little friends from school, Sun day school and scout classes. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Fox spent a fortnight recently in New York. Miss Rachel Neely is in Florence. Italy, taking a three months’ course at the University of Florence. Mrs. Arthur Harris and daughter Leila, have returned from New York. Miss Daisy Jacobs has returned from Birmingham, Ala., whre she was the guest of Mrs. Eugene Jacobs. Mrs. W. L. Hirschberg, of Sumter, S. C., was the recent guest of Mr. and Mrs. Julian Hirschberg at their home on Springdale Road. Mrs. Ernst Ellman of St. Louis, Mo., was the recent guest of Mrs. Leo Strauss. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Dittler announce the birth of a daughter, whom they have named Patzy Gene Dittler. Mr. and Mrs. William Silvertone of Mr. and Mrs. Sig Samuels.
