Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Morris, of Spar
tanburg, S. C., announce the engage
ment of their daughter, Sylvia Mina, to
Henry David Jacobs, of Nashville,
Tenn., the wedding to take place
April 28.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Luxenburg an
nounce the engagement of their daugh
ter, Edythc Louise, to Mr. Lew Shcrr,
of Boston, Mass., the marriage to be
solemnized in the near future.
Miss Louise Solomonson was hostess
at a dance at her home on Highland
Avenue, when she entertained a group
of the younger contingent.
Births
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Ilirsch announce
the birth of a daughter, Nancy Anne.
Mrs. Hirsch was, before her marriage,
Miss Harriett Levinson, of Minneap
olis.
Mr. and Mrs. Jake Brail announce
the birth of a son.

Selig-Joel Engagement Announced
Enlisting wide social interest is the
announcement of the engagement of
Miss Dorothy Mae Selig to Lyons B.
Joel II, which has been made by the
bride-elect's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Si
mon S. Selig, of Springdale Road, Druid
Hills. Miss Selig is a young woman of
unusual charm and has a large circle
of friends, both in Atlanta and in other
cities where she has visited. She is a
graduate of Girls’ High School and
completed her education at National
Park Seminary, Washington, D. C.,
where she was a member of the Alpha
Sorority.
During the past two years Miss Selig
has traveled extensively and has vis
ited in a number of Southern cities.
Her only brother is Simon Selig, Jr.
Her maternal grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. M. Printz, of Cleveland, Ohio,
and her paternal grandparents were the
late Mr. and Mrs. Sigmund Selig, who
were prominently known throughout
the South.
Mr. Joel, who is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. B. F. Joel, is the brother of Ben
jamin Joel, Jr., and Mrs. Herman Hy
man. He is a graduate of Boys’ High
School and received his degree from
the University of Georgia in 1924. At
college he was a member of the Glee
Club and of the Phi Epsilon Pi Frater
nity. The bridegroom-elect is associated
in business with the Imperial Furniture
Shop in Chattanooga, Tenn. He is a
member of the Hai Resell social fra
ternity and of the Standard Club.
Mr. and Mrs. Simon Selig will enter
tain at a reception at their home on
Springdale Road Sunday, April 12, in
honor of Miss Selig and Mr. Joel. The
marriage will be a fashionable social
event taking place in June.
A lovely surprise party was given re
cently by Miss Rubye Danneman in
honor of her cousin. Miss Miriam Kel-
man. Those present were Misses Rubye
Danneman, Betty King, Gussie Yerlow,
Rachel Yerlow, Sadie Koplin, Ida Rock,
Alice Goldstein, Minnie Klein, Messrs.
Joe Bock, Leon Swartz, Morris Wein-
grow, Abe Barnett. Charlie Yerlow,
Herbert Saul, David Wyle, Sam Stern
berg, A1 Augustein, Harry Seydell, Ed
die Blitzstein, Herbert Steinberg and
Loeb Goldstein.
Mrs. M. Stein, of Birmingham, Ala.,
was the guest of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Arthur Hevman.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Visanski have
returned from Charleston, where they
visited the Magnolia Gardens.
Mr. and Mrs. Sol Epstein have re
turned from Savannah.
Mr. and Mrs. Jake Brail announce
the birth of a son who bears the name
of Robert.
Mrs. Eugene Oberdorfer, Sr., mo
tored to Jacksonville, Fla., for a visit
with relatives.
Mrs. Brail, of Chicago, Ill., is the
guest of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Freitag.
Mr. Leon Frohsin, Miss Laura Wil
liamson, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hirsch
formed a congenial party motoring to
Lakemont for the week-end.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Held have re
turned from Augusta and Savannah.
Mrs. Percy Myers, of Savannah, Ga.,
was the recent guest of her mother,
Mrs. Morris Rich, at the Georgian Ter
race.
Mrs. Fred Barnett, of New Jersey,
was the guest of her mother, Mrs. B. Z.
Phillips.
Mr. and Mrs. William Rosenbaum,
of New York, were guests of their sis
ters, Mrs. George Kahn and Mrs. Rus
sell Weil.
Mrs. Ed David and Mrs. Louis Reg-
enstein motored to New York recently.
Mr. Henry Bauer, Jr., who is at
tending the University of Pennsylvania,
spent the Easter holidays with his par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bauer.
Mrs. Lazarre Cohn is the guest of
Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hirsch.
Mrs. Louis Byck, of Louisville, Ky.,
spent a few days in the city.
Mrs. Jake Satorias, of New York,
is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred
Myers.
Mrs. Morris Moss, Miss Carol Moss
and Mr. Aaron Oberdorfer have re
turned from a short stay in Jackson
ville, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hirsch have re
turned from New York and Atlantic
City.
Miss Florette Visanski, who is at
tending college at Goucher, in Balti
more, spent the Easter holidays with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Vi
sanski.
Miss May Weil, of Selma, Ala., was
the guest of her sister, Mrs. Sidney
Metzger.
Miss Helene Rosenberg was the guest
of relatives in Birmingham, Ala.
Miss Ruby Eichberg has returned to
the city after spending the winter out
West.
