How glorious, the prospect when
man, wife, and child will join voices in
the synagogue, one day in the week;
when man can say, and woman with

bride, the presence of the Sabbath let
us receive.”

Rome—Italian Jewry’s proudest
architectural exhibit, the Great Syna
gogue in Rome, must dispense with the
finest adornment of that structure, ac
cording to a ruling by Premier Musso
lini. The golden dome of the syna
gogue was regarded as one of the most
attractive sights in the city, hut the
city planning commission felt that it did
not fit in with the architectural plan
of the new Rome. II Duce’s decision
was made after representatives of the
Jewish community had protested the
commission’s views.
Saloniki, Greece—Some time ago the
Jewish community of Saloniki had de

the prevailing economic depression.
Jerusalem—The Arab Executive, in
retaliation for MacDonald’s letter to
Weizmann, which is characterized as
“a betrayal of Arab interests,” has
issued a manifesto calling upon all
Arabs to boycott the Jews. The appeal
is addressed not only to Palestinians
but to Moslems in Iraq, Nejd, Mesopo
tamia and the entire Near East.
Moscow—The Jews are making too
elaborate preparations for the Passover
holiday this year, according to an edi
torial in the Ernes, which declares that
money devoted to the luxuries of this
festival could be better devoted to the
advancement of Soviet constructive ac
tivities.
Jerusalem—Signs of a great con
flagration apparently contemporary
with the destruction of the walls of
Jericho have been found by Prof. John
Garstang, noted archeologist, who is
investigating the site of the Biblical
