10 THE SOUTHERN ISRAELITE Births Mr. and Mrs. Max Kessler, of Bir mingham, Ala., announce the birth of a daughter, who has been given the name of Carolyn Ernestine. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hirsch announce the birth of a daughter, who was named Bernita Rose. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shinas an nounce the birth of a daughter, born recently at the Georgia Baptist Hos pital. Ahavath Achim Sisterhood will give its annual Chanukah ball at the Jew ish Educational Alliance Wednesday, December 9. This affair will be one of the major enterprises of the Sister hood in the raising of sufficient funds for the maintenance of the Sunday school of the synagogue. Mrs. Isador Jacobs is general chair man of the committee in charge. Mrs. E. Cuba has been appointed chair man of the refreshment committee. The officers of the Sisterhood are: Mrs. D. N. Meyer, president; Mrs. A. R. Spielberger, vice-president; Mrs. S. M. Jacobs, recording secre tary; Mrs. I. A. Zion, treasurer; Mrs. L. S. Piassick, corresponding secre tary. Mrs. M. Mayfair Club Dance Brilliant Event at Biltmore A dance given recently by the May- fair Country Club in the Pompeian Room of the Biltmore Hotel assembled a large organization that was organ ized last spring for the purpose of building a country club. Dancing was enjoyed until a late hour, after which a buffet supper was served. Jack J. Stein acted as chair man of entertainment for the oc casion.
