A large number of the younger set attended. Phi Epsilon Pi fraternity announces the following pledges: Messrs. Sol Wilensky, Savannah, Ga.; Ben Strauss, Henry Giegerman, Atlanta; Leo Drum, Teddy Myers and Nathan Loebman, of Montgomery, Ala., and L. Burney of New York City. The Sigma Gamma Club of Geor gia Tech entertained with a dance in honor of the pledges at the home of Mr. Julian Freedman recently. The pledges of the club include Mr. Sol Chernicoff of St. Joe, Missouri; Mr. Sidney Penka of Spring Valley, N. Y.; Mr. Bernard Mandle, Mr. Louis Mer lin of Atlanta; Mr. Meyer Galoboff of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mr. Ivan Weis- kopf of Buffalo, N. Y. The young ladies invited were Miss es Tillie Sehwartzberg, Bloomie Blass, Miriam Baum, Bertha Saperstein, Minnie Klotz, Florence Farkas, Sylvia Freedman, Ester Weinstein, Freda Freedman, Rose Cramer, Ethel Eisen- berg, Rose Kalishman and Bee Schrei- ber. Officers and members of Sigma Gamma are Mr. Bennie Golden, presi dent; Mr. Harold Newman, vice-presi dent; Mr. Julian Freedman, secretary, and Mr. Joe Weinman, treasurer; Mr. Elmo Agoos, Mr. Albert Bernath, Mr. Isadore Itzkow, Mr. Irving Lipshitz, Mr. Harold Marcovitch, Mr. Harry Zaglin, and Mr. Joe Cuba, alumni ad visor. The Progress Club of the Georgia Tech Evening School of Commerce entertained with a bridge at the home of Mr. Dave Krasner. Members of the club are: Mr. Louis Zimmerman, president; Mr. Joe Seitz, vice-presi dent; Mr. Samuel Stern, secretary; Mr. Ralph Hillman, treasurer; Mr. Nathan Lipshitz, Mr. Willie Manning, Mr. Dave Krasner, and Mr. Ernest Golden. Guests of the club were Miss Stella Spielberger, Miss Naomi Cantor, Miss Miriam Baum, Miss Annette Davis, Miss Bessie Steel, Miss Bee Sehreiber and Miss Esther Weinstein. University of Alabama Delta Phi Epsilon, the only national Jewish sorority at the University of Alabama, last year attained the high est scholastic average ever made on the university campus. They announce the following pledges Miss Frances Levine of Chattanooga, Tenn.; Miss Harriet Harrison, of Bridgeport, Conn.; Miss Rose Rosenblum of Nashville, Tenn.; Miss Frances Gold berg of Lakewood, N. J.; Miss Libby Strauss of Richmond, Va.; Miss Helen Beldner of Jersey City, N. J.; Miss Lillian Wucher, of Miami, Fla.; Miss Hannah Gottlieb of Poughkeepsie, N. Y., and Miss Ann Shugarman of Ens- ley, Ala. The Freshmen pledges entertained with a costume ball at the sorority house recently. About thirty-five couples were present. Miss Sadye Rich, Miss Bess Sacks, Mr. Sol Morgan and Mr. Roy Robin- ton motored to Atlanta recently as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Meyer Rich. Miss Rose Rosenblum, Miss Flo Ap- pelbaum and Miss Libby Strauss at tended the Alabama-Vanderbilt game in Nashville Thanksgiving. Miss Corinne Levy spent Thanks giving with her mother in Birming ham. University of South Carolina Miss Rosalind Keyserling, of Beau fort, S. C., who is attending the Uni versity of South Carolina, was the recent week-end guest of Mrs. M. Zaban of Atlanta. Vunderbilt Universit y Alpha Gamma Chapter of Zeta Beta Tau fraternity at Vanderbilt were hosts to Psi Chapter of Zeta Beta Tau from the University of Alabama on Thanksgiving Day. Following the Vanderbilt-Alabama football game, a tea dance was given at the newly purchased fraternity house. Officers of Alpha Gamma Chap ter are Mr. Harold Schwartz of Chat tanooga, Tenn., president; Mr. Julian Gortatowsky of Albany, Ga., vice- president; Mr. Louis Rosenfeld of Nashville, Tenn., secretary; Mr. Joseph Abraham of Huntsville, Ala., treasurer; Mr. Leon Matison of Nashville, Tenn., historian. Pledges are: Mr. Dick Wertheimer, Maryland; Mr. Shiel Strong, Clarks ville, Tenn.; Mr. William Krugby, Chicago; Mr. William Shenker, Mr. Herschel Katzman, Mr. Billy Rich and Mr. Walter Weise of Nashville. Warsaw.—Angered because pro posals that they had made in con nection with Jewish communal activi ties of the Kehillah had been voted down by the Council, the Zionist mem bers of the body started vigorous ob jections which threw the meeting in to a turmoil. Members of the Council exchanged blows, and the president was bruised when a hurled glass caught his face. Moscow.—The Great Synagogue of Odessa, one of the outstanding Jew ish religious buildings in Russia, has been converted into a gymnasium, be cause it was attended by so few wor shippers.
