University of Alabama
Tau Chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu

of this year are Morris J. Sostman,

Stein, Lester Nelken, Harry Diamond,

Stander, of Louisiana, and Solomon
Brown, of Alabama.
Vanderbilt University
Zeta Beta Tau fraternity was win
ner of the scholarship cup this year
with one of the highest averages ever
made by a fraternity at Vanderbilt.
In the last four years Zeta Beta Tau
ha won the scholarship honors three
times and took second place once. The
chapter personnel stands one of the
most upstanding on the campus in the
way of participation in activities. Mr.
Julian Gortatowsky, of Albany, Ga., is
president of Pan-Hellenic Council,
vice-president of the Artus Club and
publicity manager of the Glee Club.
Mr. Seymour Samuels, of Nashville,
on the track team and Mr. Harold
Schwartz and Mr. Louis Lowenstein,
both of Nashville, played on the var-
ity tennis team. Mr. Milton Simon,
Memphis, is editor-in-chief of the
Masquerader, the monthly college
comic, with Mr. Louis Rosenfeld, of
Nashville, as business manager Mr
Lee Schlesinger, of Memphis, as ex
change editor and Mr. Albert Gold
berg, of Nashville, as circulation edi
tor. Musically inclined are Mr. Dor
ns Loventhal, Mr. Dick Wertheimer,
Mr. Julian Gortatowsky and Mr. Rob
ert Rosenthal, who sing in the Glee
Club, and Mr. Louis Rosenfeld and
Mr. Bernard Weinstein, who play on
the band. Mr. Harold Schwartz, of
Chattanooga, was one of the twelve
students elected to Phi Beta Kappa,
honorary scholastic fraternity. Mr!
Schwartz, who is president of Alpha
Gamma Chapter of Zeta Beta Tau,
will attend the national convention to
be held in Boston during the Christ
mas holidays. Others who are ex
pected to attend are Mr. I/eonard
Scott, of Greenwood, Miss., Mr. Ed
ward Reisman, of Chattanooga, and
Mr. Dorris Loventhal, of Nashville.
Emory University
The pledges of Epsilon chapter of
Alpha Spsilon Pi fraternity honored
the active members of the chapter at
a dance at the Forrest Hills Country
Club on Thanksgiving Eve.
A dance was also given at the fra
ternity house at 1168 Emory Drive
on Thanksgiving afternoon, honoring
the visiting members of the fraternity
from the University of Georgia chap
ter. Among those invited to the
dances were Misses Audrye Rothen-
berg, Evelyn Ward, Sylvia Raskin,
and Leah Ward, of Savannah; Sylvia
Dreisen, of Miami; Rosalie Moore,
Carrollton; Zelda Bonnett, Nashville;
Helene Hirsch and Rosalyn Ehern-
of Chicago; Tootsie Rudolph, Chatta
nooga; Beatrice Hoffman, Augusta;
Annette Harris, Ocilla; and Rosalie
Hirsch, Edythe Epstein, Fannie Hei-
man, Annette Moldow, Claire Saper-
stein, Beatrice Schreiber, Charlotte
