The roofgarden of the Jewish Progres
sive Club, decorated as a garden in the
Meier Schefye School, was the scene of
the annual Donor’s Luncheon of the At
lanta Chapter of Senior Hadassah held
recently. The luncheon guests, upon en
tering the club, were transported to
Meier Schefye, the Children’s Village, a
model educational institution for under
privileged children. The school is a
project of Junior Hadassah where the
children are maintained and taught trades
and crafts.
The American tourists (guests at the
Donor’s luncheon) participated in the
joyous spring festival of Lag B’Omer
and were entertained by the students
(members of Hadassah taking part in the
program) with a national folk-dance, the
*‘Hora,” Palestinian songs, a humorous
dialogue, a vocal chorus and a playlet.
Mrs. Benj. B. Brodie and Mrs. Herbert
Taylor were chairmen of the program.
Under the direction of Mrs. Senia Solo-
monoff, the Singing Waitresses were pre
sented in an effective and picturesque
drill, forming a “Mogan-Dovid,” the
Star of David, and the letter “H”, rep
resenting Hadassah. Mrs. Jack Isenberg,
Mrs. Morris Frank, Mrs. S. A. Goldberg,
Mrs. Louis Cohen, Mrs. Mose 'Taylor,
Mrs. Sol O. Klutz, Mrs. Harry Mattel,
Mrs. A. Stein, Mrs. Charles Weinstein,
Mrs. Berry Cohen, Mrs. Jack Weiss, Mrs.
M. L. Kahn, Mrs. Louts Rittenbauin, Mrs.
R. M. Travis and Mrs. J. M. Rosenfeld
performed the drill and dance, the
"Flora,” a fast and furious, intoxicating,
rhythmic native dance.
All the money obtained from the pro
ceeds of this luncheon, ecxept a very
small amount used for foodstuffs, was
sent directly to the Hadassah Medical
Organization. The luncheon was pre
pared strictly in accordance with the die
tary laws.
'The co-chairman, Mrs. I. M. Weinstein,

'The A. Z. A. order of Atlanta joined
with its other 160 fraternal chapters of
this country and Canada in the celebra
tion of International A. Z. A. Parents’
Day in its chapter room at the Hebrew
Orphans’ Home. Since one of the creeds
of an A. Z. A. is filial love, one day is set
aside each year as a special day to honor
parents.
'This international celebration was first
started by the order on May 12, 1928,
as A. Z. A. Mothers’ Day, but since has
been changed to A. Z. A. Parents’ Day.
This year the local chapter arranged an
interesting program under the supervis
ion of Aleph Simon Wender. The prin
cipal speakers were Rabbi Harry Ep
stein and Mr. Henry A. Alexander. Mu
sical numbers were furnished by Alephs
Bennie Glustrum and Leonard Green-
baum.
Among A. Z. A. members of the At
lanta Chapter who received high schol
arship honors were: Aleph Simon Wen
der, who was made Phi Beta Kappa,
international honorary scholastic frater

term; Aleph Moses Abelsky, who was
elected to the Junior College Scholarship
Society, Alpha Epsilon Upsilon, at Em
ory. Aleph Wender is the second A. Z. A.
member to have been elected to I*hi Beta
Kappa during the school year 1932-1933.
Aleph Joe Glazer was elected to Phi
