• Mr. and Mrs. Philip S. Clein announce
the engagement of their daughter, Miss
Esther Leatrice Clein, to Dr. Louis Silver,
the wedding to be solemnized Sunday af
ternoon, July 2, at 5 o’clock at the
Ahavath Achim Synagogue on Washing
ton Street.
• Mr. and Mrs. M. Landau, of Elberton,
Ga., announce the engagement of their
daughter, Janie, to Mr. Herbert Gavron,
the date of the marriage to be announced
later.
• Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Tenenbaum an
nounce the engagement of their daughter,
Mildred, to Mr. Mose Sachs, of Chatta
nooga, Tenn., the date of the marriage to
be announced later.
Marriages
• Mr. and Mrs. David Klein announce
the marriage of their daughter, Miss
Molly Klein, to Henry Miller, the cere
mony having taken place last December
in Macon. Rabbi I. E. Marcusson of
ficiated. Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Klotz were
the only attendants. Mr. and Mrs. Miller
left for an extended trip to Miami and
Cuba. They will make their home in At
lanta.
• Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Spielberger an
nounce the marriage of their youngest
daughter, Miss Stella Pauline Spielberger,
to Mr. Sidney Backer, of Macon, with
Rabbi Funk, of Columbus, Ga., officiating.
Mrs. Hacker is the sister of Mrs. Mendle
Boorstein and of Iswald, Dudy and Harry
Speilberger, all of Atlanta. Mr. and Mrs.
Backer will make their home in Macon.
• The marriage of Miss Ruby Danen-
man and Mr. Alvin Weinberg was sol
emnized with Rabbi Harry Epstein of
ficiating. The bride was given in mar
riage by her brother, Mr. Joseph Danen-
rnan. The best man was J. Kaminsky, of
LaGrange, Ga. After the ceremony a
dinner for the immediate family was
given by the bride’s aunt, Mrs. Victor
Bock. After a wedding trip to Tybee
Beach Mr. and Mrs. Weinberg will make
their home in LaGrange, Ga.
• Mr. and Mrs. Sigmund Guthman an
nounce the marriage of their daughter,
Miss Irma Guthman, to Mr. David Gold-
wasser, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Gold-
wasser, on June 28, Rabbi David Marx
officiating. The bride was given in mar
riage by her father, and her only attend
ants were her sisters, Mrs. Charles Held
and Miss Evelyn Guthman. Mr. Harris
Goldwasser, brother of the groom, was
best man. After the ceremony, which was
witnessed by relatives of the families,
Mr. and Mrs. Guthman entertained at a
reception for the many friends of the
couple. Among the out-of-town guests
were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Edison and
son, Sidney, of St. Louis; Mr. and Mrs.
Lester Schwartzman and daughter, Betty,
of Chattanooga; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Sterne
of Albany. After their wedding journey
Mr. and Mrs. Goldwasser will be at
home in Los Angeles, Cal.
• The Jewish Progressive Club, on Pryor
Street, held open house recently for its
members and guests. Tables were set on
the roof garden to provide for bridge
games and refreshments were served dur
ing the evening.
• The Phanpons entertained at a dance
complimenting Mr. and Mrs. Dan Lease
and Dr. and Mrs. Louis Burger.
• Mrs. Simon Mendel, Mrs. E. A. Joseph
and Mr. Alvin Joseph are planning to
attend the World’s Fair in Chicago.
• Mr. and Mrs. Irving Kessler and
daughter, Barbara, expect to leave for
New York the early part of August.
• Mr. Ellis Cone, well known young At
lanta attorney, is now connected with
Jones, Fuller, Russell & Clapp.
• Mr. Hyman Jacobs has returned from
a visit to his parents, Mr. and Mrs, Abra
ham Jacobs, in Miami, Fla.
• Mr. Hilliard Clein, of Miami, Fla.,
visited relatives in Atlanta.
• Ben Clein, who attended the Georgia
Military Academy during the past school
year, is now at home in Miami, Fla.
• Dr. Joseph Yampolsky attended the
American Academy of Pediatrics conven
tion in Chicago and also the American
Medical Association meeting in Mil
waukee, Wis.
• MisN Hermenia Baum has returned
from the Cincinnati Conservatory of
Music in Cincinnati, where she has been
studying violin, to spend the summer
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel
Baum, on Pace's Ferry Road West.
• Mr. and Mrs. Louis Wellhouse, Jr., and
young daughter are at the Georgian Ter
race Hotel.
• Mr. and Mrs. Eli Meyers and daugh
ters, Misses Jane and Gloria Meyers,
have motored to New York after spending
several days at the Georgian Terrace
Hotel.
• Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Haas and Mr.
and Mrs. Richard Schwab were among
recent visitors at Cashiers, N. C.
• Miss Lucille Baum, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Samuel Baum, has returned
from Ohio State University to spend the
summer with her parents.
• Mrs. Leo Strauss, Mrs. Sam Schoen,
Mrs. Ernest Horwitz and Miss Clemen
tine Haas are delegates from the Temple
Sisterhood to the convention of the
national organization held in Chicago, III.
• Mrs. Flora M. Rauh, of Indianapolis,
Ind., and Mrs. Dora F. Sonn, of Pitts
burgh, Pa., were guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Victor F. Kriegshaber.
• Dr. S. L. Silverman has returned from
Savannah, where he attended a meeting
of the Georgia Dental Association.
• The many friends of Mrs. Francis I.oeb
will regret to learn of her illness.
• Mrs. Alex Wachtel has returned from
a two months’ visit with friends and rela
tives in Savannah and Dublin, Ga.
• Mrs. P. Furstenburg has returned from
Athens, Ga., and will leave shortly for
Atlantic City, N. J. She will be accom
panied by her daughter, Mrs. Gus Weill,
and grandson.
• Miss Annette Geffen, daughter of Rabbi
and Mrs. Tobias Geffen, was awarded
special honors in biology at Emory Uni
versity.
• Mr. Arthur Heyman is convalescing
from a recent operation.
• Mr. and Mrs. Armand Wyle have re
turned from New York City.
• Mrs. Emil Wise, of Montgomery, Ala.,
was the recent guest of her sister and
brother, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Klein.
• Mrs. Lawrence Holzman is recuperat
ing from a recent illness at her home on
Hudson Drive.
• Mr. Milton Klein, Jr., visited his aunt,
Mrs. Emil Wise, in Montgomery, Ala.
• Miss Alice Apte was the guest of her
aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Stras-
burger.
• Joan Strasburger is attending Laurel
Falls Camp.
• Mrs. Sam Hausrnan has returned to
New York after spending the past month
with her sister, Mrs. David Wise.
• Mrs. Leo G. Straus*, Miss Clementine
Haas, Mrs. Emil Rothschild and Miss
Beatrice Rothschild motored to Chicago
to attend the World’s Fair. They also
motored to the University of Wisconsin
to meet Miss Carlyn Strauss, whom they
accompanied to camp.
• Mr. and Mrs. Walter Visanska have
taken possession of their new apartment
at 1050 Ponce de Leon Avenue.
• Miss Dorothy Friedman, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Friedman, has re
turned home after an extended tour
through the East.
• Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rich and young
daughter have moved to New York City
to make their future home.
• Mr. Bernard Mandle is leaving for
Omaha, Neb., where he will attend the
national convention of the A. Z. A. order
of the B'nai B’rith as a representative of
the Atlanta chapter of the organization.
En route home he will spend some time in
Chicago to visit the Century of Progress
Exposition.
• Mr. and Mrs. Charles Held and sons
motored to Richmond, Va., for a visit
with Mr. Held's mother.
• Mrs. Louis Kaufman and children, of
Montgomery, Ala., are the guests of Mr.
and Mrs. A. Holzman.
• Mr. Harold Marcus ha* returned from
New York City.
• Mrs. Morris Hirsch and little daughter,
Judith, have returned from Birmingham,
Ala., where they visited Mrs. Hirsch’*
parents.

and little son, Mervin, have returned
from a visit with relatives in Raine, La.
• Miss Bess Cohen, of Jacksonville, Fla.,
is the guest of Miss Helen Frank.

Louis Silver will take place July 2, were

• Miss Louise Solotnonson entrrtained at
a bridge party for Mrs. David Goldwas-
ser, who was until her recent marriage
Miss Irma Guthman. Mrs. Siegfreid
Guthman was hostess at a bridge lunch
eon for friends of the bride, and Mrs.
Charles Held entertained at an al fresco
dinner for her sister, Mrs. Goldwasser.
• Mr. and Mrs. Harry Barnett, of Phila
delphia, formerly of Atlanta, visited Mr.
Jake Friedman.
• Mr. and Mrs. Harry Constangy cele
brated their twenty-fifth wedding anni
versary recently with a dance at the
Jewish Progressive Club.
• Misses Marlyn Romm and Lois Strauss
motored to Spartanburg, S. C.
• Sylvia Mae Bock, a recent graduate of
James L. Key Grammar School, was the
co-hostess with her mother, Mrs. Jose
phine Gordon Bock, at a luncheon for
the teachers and principal of James L.
Key School.
• Mrs. H. Saul entertained for Mrs.
Sarah Shuman Weinberg, formerly of At
lanta, now visiting in Atlanta.
• Mrs. H. Saul gave a luncheon to honor
Mrs. Ruby Dannemon Weinberg, a recent
bride.
