Alephs Edwin L. Gavron, president of the Atlanta Chapter A. Z. A., and Wthur Gottesman, Grand Treasurer of 'he Order, recently made a tour of the Eastern District for the purpose of 'lengthening present A. Z. A. A novel feature of the program was a - lv discussion meeting, with Mr. Ed- 3 -i M. Kahn, advisor, as discussion Tk* ^ to P* c unt fer discussion was Relationship of Young Judaea to the New Problems of Jewish Youth in America, for which discussion no pre pared speeches were allowed. The panel participants were David Gershon, presi dent of the Atlanta Council of Young Judaea, Joseph Cuba, Simon Wender and Simon Noveck, of Atlanta. A prominent guest of the convention was Mrs. A. H. Y’ixman, Executive Di rector, National Young Judaea, who took part in the convention activities and spoke at the opening banquet. In order to entertain the visitors and delegates, the convention social arrange ments committee planned and executed a most elaborate series of affairs, among which included a novelty night club dance at Peachtree Gardens, a dinner- dance in the ballroom of the Jewish Edu cational Alliance, a theatre party at the Erlanger I heatre and a farewell dance at the Jewish Progressive Club. The Atlanta committee in charge of all arrangements, consisted of Sylvan A. Makover, general convention chairman; Nathan Cohen, publicity; Bertha Fisher, housing; Sara Bromberg and Abe Alter- man, athletics; Nace Cohen, hospitality; Max Rittenhaum, finance; and Leonard Greenbaum, dating. As a branch of the National Young Judaea, the Southern Young Judaea As sociation is a credit to the national or ganization. The national movement is dedicated to the mental, moral and phys ical development of Young Jewry and its purposes are being carried out in a splen did manner by the Southern Association. National Young Judaea was organized 25 years ago by a group of young men in New York City as a part of the Zionist Organization of America, 'ITie organiza tion now enjoys an active membership of thousands of Jewish boys and girls. Well represented in the South, it purports to foster a Jewish environment in the club and to instill in the youth a love for Jewish history and culture. Chattanooga, Term. The convention of the Federation of Jewish Men’s Social Clubs will be held in Chattanooga, September 2nd and 3rd. The Shin Aleph Fraternity of Nash ville and the Ernanon Club of Chatta nooga comprise the Federation. Approx imately 15 members of the Shin Aleph Fraternity will attend the convention. Mr. Mahlon Ritt is chairman of the federation. Mr. Alfred Margolin was elected delegate of the Shin Aleph Fra ternity to the convention. The Shin Aleph Fraternity during it* eight years of existence have grown stead ily, and are gaining in importance among the Jewish Fraternities of the South. The two fraternities are gathering for this meeting to outline an extensive pro gram of adding to its membership other Jewish Fraternities in the South, and for the promotion of proper social activity, good fellowship, and the development of finer Jewish ideals. Obituary • Mr. David Sisselman passed away. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery, Rabbi Harry Epstein, officiating. Mr. Sisselman is survived by Mr. and Mrs. Sam Sisselman, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Sisselman, Mr. and Mrs. J. Jacobs and Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Goldberg. • Mr. Leo 'Frankel passed away in Toronto, Canada, in his seventieth year. He is survived by his wife and sons, Egmont, Carl and Roy Frankel.
