Mr. Harold Hirsch, Atlanta attorney, is one of the 116 Jews and eight non-Jews throughout the country who have been named by the American Hebrew in its annual Who’s Who issue for notable achievement in their profession and for outstanding contributions to government. He is one of the 34 especially honored by having their names placed on the front cover of the publication. ▼ Ihe Atlanta Unit of Junior Hadassah held their monthly meeting at the An»- ley Hotel. Miss Lillian Reisman, Presi dent, presided. Reports from the various chairmen who assisted Miss Rrisrnan in sponsoring the Revue held at the Atlanta Woman’s Club December 5th showed that the revue was a success, and the funds raised were assigned to the quota for the Palestian fund. Miss Dorothy Davis, chairman of Jew ish National Fund, announced that Mac- cabean day, which was observed Decem ber 17th, was quite successful. l*he Zionist class, under the able di rection of Mrs. J. J. Heilman, will be organized shortly. TTiis is to be part of the cultural work of which Miss Ozna I'ontak is chairman. Miss Tontak also announced that the “Fake a Chance" night will l»e held some time during the month of February. The Athlet ic Chairman. Miss Annie C ihcn, announced that the basketball team had been organized and had plaved their first game. Games are scheduled for every Tuesday evening and are l>eing played at the Y. W. C. A. building on Auburn Avenue. Pickets for the game can be obtained from Miss Cohen or anv mem ber of the basketball team. Miss Jennie Shamos, Membership chairman, announced that a party for Members only would be held the first part of January. Date to be announced later. The meeting closed with a very inter esting program, which was presented in the form of a court room scene, case be ing: Prospective member for Junior Ha dassah versus Membership chairman, which gave the membership attendance pointers on why they should become mem bers of the organization. Miss Bessie (ieffen read some current events on the work now being done in Palestine. Miss Bessie Lutzky, program chairman, spoke on "Significance of Chanakah," which was recently observed by all Jewry. V The Atlanta Section of the National Council of Jewish Women and the Tem ple Sisterhood held a joint meeting re cently at the Temple House in the na ture of a mothers’ and daughters’ lunch eon. Following the luncheon Mrs. Leo Strauss, president of the Sisterhood, re ported on Sisterhood activities. Reports on the Interstate Conference of the Coun cil held in Mobile were presented by Mrs. I. F. Sterne, president of the Council, and Mrs. I*hilip Shulhafer. Mrs. Herman was elected a delegate to represent the Coun cil of Jewish Women at the Conference on the Cause and Cure of War to be held in Washington, I>. C., January 16-19, and Mrs. M. Stephen Schiffer was elected al ternate. Mrs. Sinclair Jacobs presented a charming and interested reading. ▼ Mr. Simon S. Selig was recently elected president of the Atlanta Masonic Club at their weekly luncheon meeting at the Winecoff Hotel. Mr. Selig, one of the foremost manufacturers in the South, is president of the Selig Disinfectant Com pany. He is also prominent in various civic and social activities of the city, be ing president of the Standard Club.
