Berlin (WNS)—Because the irre-
sistable economic pressure of the
boycott is slowly strangling Ger
many’s foreign trade the Nazi re
gime is being forced to put a damper
on the spirits of its more violent
anti-Semitic leaders and to curb
public manifestations of its anti-

dicated. Although there is as yet
nothing to indicate nothing to indi

Debt To Next Generation To Be Discussed At New Orleans
What is the debt the Jewish wom
en of the present generation owe to
the next? What are their duties as
mothers, Jews and Americans.
At its Triennial Convention to be
held in the Hotel Roosevelt at New
Orleans March 10th to 15th, the
National Council of Jewish Women
will attempt to define those duties,
not so much for others to follow as
for its own membership of over
40,000 women in the United States
and Canada.
The convention program has been
planned with the further develop
ment of the Council’s social service,
welfare, legislative and educational
program in view. Sounding the key

World Today”. On Tuesday the con
vention will hear an address by

director of the Conference. Taking
part in the seminar with Dr. Clinchy

be the culmination of a tour through
several southern cities to be made
by the three clergymen, under the
auspices of the two organizations.
They will speak in Asheville, N. C.,
Memphis, Tenn., Little Rock, Ark.,
Fort Worth, Texas.
The seminar will be an informal

PAINT HAUPTMANN
VICTIM OF JEWISH
‘PLOT’JY ELDERS
Organized Move to Vindicate Bruno
Richard Hauptmann, German
Carpenter
DEMONSTRATION IN GERMANY
Leaflet Charged That “A German
Has Been Convicted On Falsi
fied Evidence.
New York (WNS)—An organized
move to vindicate Bruno Richard
Hauptmann, the German carpenter
who is under sentence of death for
the murder of the Lindbergh baby,
by attempting to picture him as the
victim of an alleged Jewish plot di
rected by the so-called “Elders of
Zion”, and to paint David T. Wi-
lentz, who as attorney-general of
New Jersey prosecuted Hauptmann,
as the agent of the “Elders of Zion”,
got under way here with the first
of a series of huge mass meetings
of German American Nazis seeking
to raise funds for Hauptmann’s de
fense. An infuriated mob of more
than 3,000 that jammed the largest
hall in Yorkville, the German sec
tion, shrieked “kill Lindbergh,” “kill
Wilentz,” “the Jews did it” and
“Jew Fisch did it,” as half a dozen
speakers denounced the verdict as
a frameup and acclaimed Haupt
mann as a hero.
Although none of the known Nazi
leaders appeared on the platform
the atmosphere of the meeting and
the language employed in the litera
ture distributed smacked of a Nazi
demonstration in Germany.
That the Nazis are planning to
exploit the Hauptmann case for
anti-Semitic purposes was clearly
evidenced by the contents of a leaf
let entitled “Who Sentenced Haupt
mann—And Why?”, which was dis
tributed at the meeting. The leaflet
charged that “a German has been
convicted on falsified evidence man-

Warns American Jews
To Learn Lesson From
Fate Of Brethren
New York (WNS)—An appeal to
all Jews to “learn from the mis
takes of the German Jews during
the last twenty years” and to "pre
serve your independence by the
creation of an appropriate institu
tion which you will need in the
hour of oppression” was voiced by
Dr. Albert Einstein at a reception
tendered him by the women’s di
vision of the American Jewish
Congress. Warning American Jewry
not to “trust that this hour will
never come” ahd calling upon them
to “keep the international com
munity of all Jews sacred and holy,”
the famous scientist vigorously
scored the assimilationist policies of
the German Jews and denounced
their lack of pride and dignity.
