The thunder of deadly explo
sives and the staccato hark of fire
arms in riot-torn Palestine; the
pitiful cries of the hungry for bread
in Poland; the chug-chug of trac

pinched faces of German Jewish
children, whose innocent world has
been darkened by tragedy, per
secution and loss; the march of the
boycott, Jewry’s most effective wea

tries; refugees from the terror of
the swastika beginning life anew
in lands of haven; dynamic, force
ful leaders of Jewry—these phases
of Jewish life in the year 5696 have
been vividly and faithfully caught
by the camera’s eye, have been
compiled into a striking, informa
tive pictorial record of the year
5696 by the Southern Israelite.
