fen, of Atlanta, will conduct the
High Holiday services at Temple
B’nai Israel here. The son of Rab
bi Tobias Geffen, Mr. Geffen Will
deliver sermons on both days of the
festival.
Although traditional in manner,
the services will embrace many
features which will make it possi
ble for all attending to obtain a
real understanding of the signifi
cance of this important day in the
Jewish calendar. Evening services
on Wednesday and Thursday will
begin at sundown, and the morning
services on Thursday and Friday
will begin at 8:30 A. M.

Phyllis Dean, on August 10th. Mrs.
Ashendorf is the former Miss Rosa
lie Citron, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. M. Citron, now of Charlotte,
N. C.
2577/ ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Zimmerman
celebrated their twenty-fifth anni
versary with a barbecue at their
home on Sunday afternoon, August
16th. Approximately eighty guests
attended the event.
Mr. and Mrs. Zimmerman are
well known to Atlantians, and their
anniversary is of cordial interest to
their many friends.
Throughout the day congratula
tory telegrams and flowers were
received by the couple. Among the
guests from a distance were Mrs.
Zimmerman’s brother, H. Goldstein,
and children.
Children of Mr. and Mrs. Zim
merman are Herman Zimmerman,
Benjamin Zimmerman, Misses Dor
othy and Rebecca Zimmerman.
AUXILIARY MEETS
The Ladies Auxiliary of the
Jewish War Veterans of Atlanta,
Post 112, reopened the Fall ses
sion with a luncheon and business
meeting on Wednesday afternoon,
September 2nd, at Davison-Paxon’s
assembly room.

rell, president of the American Le
gion Auxiliary, who brought an
important message to members.

The 1936-37 season of Atlanta
Young Judaea will be officially re
opened at the Jewish Progressive
Club on Sunday, September 13th.
New officers will be introduced at
the meeting which is to begin at
3:30 P. M. .
An important feature of the
business session will be the adop
tion of a new constitution by all
registered members of Young Ju
daea eligible to vote. The program
will include a comedy skit by Louis
Seigel and Israel Katz; singing of
Hebrew songs, led by Mrs. Charles
Bergman, and' the presentation of
awards for athletic events and at
tendance.
—Mr. and Mrs. Milton Eisenberg,
who have been visiting her par
ents, Dr. and Mrs. Everette Iseme-
nan, have returned to their home in
Erie, Pa.
—Dr. and Mrs. William Weichsel-
baum, Sr. are vacationing in Hen
dersonville, N. C.
—Mr. and Mrs. Matthew M. Levy,
accompanied by their nephew, Nor
man Levy, have returned to New
York after spending two weeks
with their mother, Mrs. Rachel
Levy.
—Mrs. Claude Picard, accompanied
by Miss Claude Picard, has re
turned to New York, where little
Miss Picard, who has been staying
with her grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. H. H. Livingston, will make
her home.
Memphis To Be Host
To A. Z. A. Conclave
Memphis, Tenn.—The Memphis
chapter of the Aleph Zadik Aleph
Fraternity, junior order of th.
B’nai B’rith, will be host to the A.
Z. A. Southern Jamboree and Con
ference Sept. 6-7. About 50 dele
gates are expected from the east
ern region of the seventh district
which includes Birmingham, Atlan
ta, Chattanooga, Charleston, Mo
bile, Little Rock, and Nashville.
Tentative plans have been drawn
up by Chairman Herbert Morris
and work is well under way. Reg
istration will be held Monday, Sep
tember 6, at the Menorah Institute
from 9 until 11 o’clock.
This is the first A. Z. A. conven
tion of this kind ever held in this
city, but it may be remembered
that the Memphis chapter spon
sored two of the most successful
meets in A. Z. A. history—the In
ternational Convention in 1928 and
the Tenth Regional in 1935.
A three dollar registration fee
will be charged every Aleph attend
ing in order to defray the expenses
of the jamboree.

to Milton Gottlieb, son of Mrs. I.

Announcement of the appoint
ment of Mrs. Sam E. Levy, promi
nent Atlanta clubwoman, to its ex
ecutive staff is made by the Brown
Tire Company, located at Cone and
Luckie Streets.
Mrs. Levy will serve as head of
the public relations department in
association with her husband, Sam
E. Levy, who recently took over
the management of the Brown Tire
Company.
Under direction of Mr. Levy, the
Brown Tire Company has made ra
pid strides, and stands today as
one of the leading automobile serv
ice concerns in the city. Years of
experience in the retail tire busi
ness has given him a thorough
grasp of automotive service and
the problems of motorists. For the
past three years he served as man
ager of the Tire Department of the
Wofford Oil Company in Georgia
and Pennsylvania.
Mr. Levy is active in Jewish af
fairs, being connected with many
branches of national Jewish work.
Among his outstanding work was
the chairmanship of United Jewish
Appeal in Atlanta several years
ago. Mr. Levy is also identified
with other leading communal or
ganizations.
The Brown Tire Company is
among the oldest tire concerns in
the state and is well known for its
excellent battery, road and tire
