^ZA Back To School Dance To Be Event of Next Week
Prize Waltz, Popularity Contest
To Be Among Features of Evening
The would-be Fred Astaires and
Ginger Rogerses of the younger
contingent will demonstrate the
newest variations in the time-hon-
pre d waltz at the second annual
-Back to School” dance to be
sponsored by the Atlanta Chapter
of AZA at the Shrine Mosque on
Tuesday evening, October 6th.
Wide interest attends the Prize
Waltz Contest which will take place
during the evening. The younger
< e t’ s ablest dancers have been re
hearsing for several weeks in prep
aration for the event.
A new feature of the “Back to
School” Dance this year will be
popularity contest in which the
three winning girls will win trips
to Charleston, S. C., for the Dis
trict Conclave in December.
Another event of the month to
he sponsored by AZA will be a
dance in honor of International
AZA Day on October 18th. Alephs,
alumni and their guests will attend
the affair. Earlier in the day,
Rabbi Sam Wrubel, of Asheville, N.
will speak at a special program
at the Jewish Educational Alliance.

Roman, of New York, which took
place Thursday evening, Septem
ber 17th, in Atlantic City.

Mrs. A. J. Cohen, of Savannah, Ga.,
and has made her home there for
the past several years.
Mr. and Mrs. Roman are on a
wedding trip in the North.

An informal meeting marked re
sumption of the year’s activities of
the Ahavath Achim Brotherhood on
Tuesday evening, September 1st.
Over one hundred people, including
members, their wives and guests,
were in attendance.
Addresses by Rabbi Harry H.
Epstein and Dr. I. H. Goldstein,
president of the Ahavath Achim
Brotherhood, were heard during
the evening.
Following a buffet supper, Ir
ving Meisher and his musical en
semble provided dance music for
the gathering.

Alliance Plans Annual
Membership Drive
Savannah—The annual member
ship campaign of the Jewish Edu
cational Alliance will take place
during the week of October 11, ac
cording to plans adopted at the Sep
tember meeting of the Alliance
Board.
Final plans for the campaign
were adopted at a meeting of the
board on Tuesday evening, Septem
ber 29th. While no officers have
been appointed, it is announced
that their names will be made pub
lic in the near future.

Louis Newberger have left for an
extended trip to California.
Dr. and Mrs. L. L. Plant and
Miss Lorraine Plant left last week
by motor for Dallas, Tex., where
they will make their future home.
B'nai B'rith Resumes
Activities On Tuesday
Atlanta B’nai B’rith activities
will be inaugurated for the Fall
season at the opening of Gate City
Lodge, No. 144, at the Standard
Club on Tuesday evening, October
6. The dinner-meeting will begin at
6:30 o’clock, with the business ses
sion and program to follow an hour
later.
Mrs. Leonard Haas, president of
the Atlanta League of Women
Voters, will be guest speaker at the
meeting, and will have as her sub
ject, “The Part Government Plays
In Our Lives and What We Can Do
About It.” An open forum will be
held at the conclusion of Mrs. Haas’
address.
Lndies are cordially invited to
attend the meeting.
Hugo Frank, Jr., has entered
Mercersburg Academy in Mercers-
burg, Pa.
—Miss Eleanor Frank, who has
been spending some time in Maine
and New York, will resume her
studies at Smith College this fall.
—Sigo Mohr, Jr., left last week for
Georgetown Preparatory School, in
Georgetown, D. C., where he will
complete his senior year.
—Mrs. Harry Land and small son,
Donald, have returned from a ten-
week visit to Mrs. Land’s relatives
in Helena, Ark.
—Mrs. Sylvan Myers, Van Myers,
and Miss Valerie Myers have re
turned to Norfolk, Va., after spend
ing a few days with Mrs. Myers’
sister, Mrs. Samuel Stern.
—David Morrison, who is visiting
Richard Oppenheim in La Plume,
Pa., will later resume his studies at
the University of Pennsylvania.
