A PACK of Double-Mellow OLD GOLDS
is worth a minute’s study. This pack
comes wrapped with an EXTRA jacket of
Cellophane. It’s wrapped double... two
jackets instead of one. But that’s not all.
Notice how scientifically the two Cel
lophane jackets are combined... so that
one jacket seals the top of the pack and
the other seals the bottom. No open
seams anywhere ... A weather-tight,
climate-proof package.
It’s a miracle-worker, this package! It
brings you FRESH cigarettes wherever
you buy them. Whether the climate is
high and dry. Whether the climate is
damp and muggy.
You never find a pack of Double-Mel
low OLD GOLDS all dried out by heat nor
bloated to the point of sogginess by ex
cessive moisture.
Stale cigarettes are tongue-burners and
throat-stingers. But FRESH cigarettes—
those fresh, Double-Mellow OLD GOLDS
—are a delight from morning to night.
Demand Double-Mellow OLD GOLDS
for FRESHNESS. For the rich pleasure of
the world’s choicest prize crop tobac
cos. For wholesomeness. For the true
thrill of true quality, the finest domestic
and Turkish tobaccos money can buy.

where previously the number of
Jewish dock workers was netrlip.
ible, 35% of the men employed
there now, are Jews.
Since the entrance of Jews into
this hitherto alien work, Mrs Mv
erson went on to explain, the^e
have been improvements made in
the mechanics of portage so that
although only a year ago goods
had to be bodily carried, now
cranes and tractors facilitate their
handling. Thus, even the neigh
boring port at Haifa, which quick
ened into life during the past 20
years under the influx of thou
sands of Jewish pioneers, has had
another blood transfusion since the
introduction of Jews into actual
maritime work. Soon. Tel Aviv’s
port will be ready. With the num
ber of able Jewish seamen increas
ing daily, there is an exciting race
against time to have the port ready
by December, which marks the be
ginning of the citrus fruit season.
Although there are now in opera
tion only motor boats, tenders, and
fishing schooners, Nachshon’s im
mediate plans call for the pur
chase or building of two large,
ocean-going vessels. Ultimately,
however, with the establishment
of coastal boats, the creation of a
passenger line between Palestine
and the continent, and the forma
tion of an orange export service,
Tel Aviv will be able to handle
the enormous volume of sea traffic
which is rightfully hers. It is ex
pected that ten million cases of
citrus fruit will be ready for ex
port this year, alone.
Questioned about the position of
women in this maritime endeavor,
Mrs. Myerson said that of the nine
directors of Nachshon, Ltd., the
organization which she represents,
there is one other woman director
besides herself; but actually en
gaged in manual work at Tel Aviv’s
port are twenty-five young wo
men. They are skilled in weaving
nets for the fishermen, and are
being trained to help in caulking
the small ships now under con
struction.
