Progressive Club Opens Basketball Season With Gala Dance

To Mark Ballyhoo
At Standard Club

year, have selected a "nautical”
theme for the 1h year’s Ballyhoo
which will begin at the Standard
j Club on the evening of December
24th. With a “splash" and a “ship
; ahoy!", Ballyhoo has planned a
I three-day event which promises to
| be one of the most ambitious in
its history.
The opening dance will be en-
| titled "Bon Voyage,” and will be
i informal in note. Dancing will
mark the entertainment from 9
o'clock until 3:00 A. M. A Tea
Dance will be held on Saturday
afternoon between the hours of 5
and 7.
The high peak of the festivities
will be struck on Saturday evening,
when the “Shipwreck Dance" will
startle Atlantans at 10 o'clock
Bnllyhooers will be costumed in
the correct dress being worn this
season by the shipwrecked. On
Sunday evening, the “Rescue Party,
a formal affair will be held.
Paul Tremaine and his Orches
tra, one of the most popular dance
bands in the country, have been
engaged by the Ballyhooers to
provide dance music for the three-
day festivities. Featured on the
Columbia Broadcasting System for
years, the Paul Tremaine aggre
gation is composed of 12 musicians
and a vocalist. They recently com
pleted an engagement at the Stork
Club in Providence, R. I.

hooy for the December affair are

tained at a miscellaneous shower
honoring Miss Pearl Newman,
bride-elect of the month, at the
home of Miss Rosemary Glass on
Wednesday, December 5th.

Club Entertained

the Friendly Social Club at her
home on Thursday, December 2nd.
