Elaine Barrymore have purchased
a new English type home in the
j ritzy Bel-Air district of Beverly
Hills as indication that they expect
their present state of domestic bliss
to endure. The famous actor will
soon take Elaine on a belated hon
eymoon tour of Europe and also
present her with an especially-
made, air-conditioned limousine
which will outshine anything in
the way of motor cars seen in
Hollywood. Both Mr. and Mrs.
Barrymore have been awarded
contracts with Paramount Pictures.
Grand National Films has engaged
Abe Meyer to write the musical
score for its next feature. Yes, it’s
true, Tony Martin's real and pro
fessional name are now one and
the same, Tony Martin. His real
name was Alvin Morris and the
fact that this talented singing ac
tor of the movies and radio is a
Jewish youth was unknown for a
long time. Procedure in a Los
Angeles court made the change in
Martin’s name legal. The mar
riage of J. Walter Ruben, MGM
director, and blond and beautiful
Virginia Bruce is set for Dec. 25th.
Miss Bruce was the fourth wife of
the late John Gilbert and with her
young daughter inherited the bulk
of Gilbert’s $250,000 estate. It will
be Ruben's second trip to the al
tar.

nowadays. I find myself being
swept up by their challenging
rush even though my father took
such pains to keep me forever dis
ciplined in the safe old paths. I
am not a strong man like Mr.
Warshaw who, like Gibraltar,
stands rock-ribbed against all the
waves.
I am swept up by the inquiring
children and go along with them.
I go along and laugh with them
and, in truth, there is so much in
Jewish life to laugh at; with them
I stick my nose into the forbidden
places of the sacred.
So it goes in these times. They
carry you off your feet (unless
you are a determined man like Mr.
Warshaw, but, perhaps, that is the
best thing to do about the child
ren—to go along with them lest
they go too far and get lost.
